Well I have no clue where to buy these in the UK, but I bought an Ifun F410. Might sound cheesy, but i spent about 65 pounds for it, 2 gigabytes and plays videos. Also, even better (didn't buy this one yet), is the Mobinote 7" MediaPlayer PMP, 40 gigs, 7" screen plays all kinds of stuff and (in switzerland) for the low low prics of 329 francs (150 pounds). Just have a look at these, cheap & good.

You put it on a lower res, the screens aren't big enough to display huge vids anyways, but yeah, 2GB is still tiny, even on low res compressed video. Anyways what's MP4?

waht i have and works amazing is an archos av500 30 gb

it has a 4.5" lcd screen with amazing quiality

it can record live tv, play on your tv, with a reamote, works with wmplayer and itunes, great battery life, speaker, everything, plays video, music, pictures, some other ones have games like tetris

it can also audio record adn get infromation from another usb device without a computer


it kcks some serious ass.

its alittle pricey on teh archos website, but i foudn it for abotu 100 dollars cheaper on the net.

Iv had it for about a year adn nothigns wrong wiht it, it even comes with a nifty carrying case.


my freidns also has a different archos. He has the archos gmini302 camcorder. does everything mine does, jsut smaller and no live tv record fuction. but, it has a built in video camera adn is more compact.

they also have a serious heavy duty media one with a 7 inch screen. Its intense. the media functiosn are amazing. when listening to music, it shows youe al teh artist information, album art, the next track, adn teh soudn quality.



don't be discouraged by the price. Mine is worth well mroe than twice of waht i paid for it.

It also uses awesome fiel compaction


i have over 30 hours of video adn at least 10 gb of music and i still have room to spare on it's harddrive.

EDIT: sorry for the rambling byt it plays avi, mp3, mp4, peg, jpg, wmv, wma, teh itunes format, wav, adn a bunch of other stuff. Its basically a treo smart phone if a treo somart phone was an archos media player

2 GB can maybe fit 4 movies. Not cool.

Woah, I just checked out the Archos site. They have some sick players (though they're a bit overpriced). It makes the Ipod Video look like shit, though I still love my beautiful 60gig video IPod, which looks totally new as I'm so obsessive about keeping it clean . Anyways, I didn't buy it, so i don't mind, but it I were to buy, I would probably get one of the Archos.

Also, my friend told me the next Ipod is going to be a larger screened touchsceen version or something, and he saw a pirated copy for sale at the flea market. Anyone heard about this?

but i dont see the point in touch screen. it woudl jsut go off in your pocket, and constantly rubbing your finers on it wil jsut make it all dirty and greasy adn get scratched.

Yeah, I think touch screen's though are better protected, and there's always the hold button to keep it from going screwy in your pocket. I think the idea is it gives you more screen, but I think dirt would be an issue unless they use a stylus, which is inconvenient. I believe you archos are well worth the price, but it's still pretty expensive, and they can't play protected AAC, so you have to rip all your music first, though once my IPod dies, I'll definitely consider an archos, especially because of the camcorder feature, which is pretty good quality.

yea, good point. but, i think my archos can play protected AAC, idk ill have to check.

I don't now if this is otu yet, but i red in a pc mag about the new archos. Its called the archos 604, and its supposed to be the follow up to what i have, the av500. Its a little better screen, adn it costs a good deal less, but some of the features previosuly on the other archos's are optional on this. thats why a smaller price


also, it said the controls were a little hard to navigate.

There were many hoaxes about the iPod touchscreen

The only thing we know for sure is that Apple had made a few patents concerning a touchscreen interface for a portable device.
