Dell isn't bad if you want something quick, and see a configuration that works for you. They have fairly good service and quick delivery. The only reason to not order from them is if you find a specific company you'd rather deal with, or if you have very specific needs for a machine that they can't fulfill. They do let you customize their configurations, but they still make a lot of assumptions about what you want in your machine that you may not have a need for. |

Dell seems to be on the cheap end, too. One of their drawbacks is their lack of good looks unlike apple or vio (spelling?), but that's probably not a very high priority for you. I've had a dell laptop (D600) for 3 years now and it's had some harddrive problems which were a pain in the ass, but my version is obviously outdated. A couple of days ago I spent hours talking to their customer service and was very pleased with it. They seem desperate to make you like them. :p |
