I thought upgrading computers was pretty simple nowadays... but damn, some people are just retarded!

Long title for the thread, I know, but it explains where I'm trying to get across. Why are some people so dumb? lol.

....... when i bought my 7600GS firstly i got PCI-E rather then AGP( my comp ist old). Also then it kept saying low power and i didnt know why.

I said on a tech support forum " Ok well my card has like a bit with three holes in it, so maybe something with three sticky out bits is meant to go in it or something?"

reply: " the.." the sticky out thing" is a three pin Molex connector. You need to plug one from your power box to your card, there should be spare ones just lying in the case."

turns out there was a wire with three sticky out bits right next to my card, just hanging there...
My kitty Wooole!, i love you julan!!!!

Okay first mistake you have a dell. Im not sure if the dimensions will work when upgraded by buyer. I think you have to send the computer into dell and the do their hocus pocus BS and say its better. Just build your own computer. 1500$ will get you a better computer that the best XPS available. Oh lol NEVER CUT ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!! Unless it says it in the instructions. ALL HAIL INSTRUCTION BOOKLETS!!!
Oh slap your friend in the face for me. Did you cut the metal or the green part??

Oh, I'm not sure. It's not my friend, and even if he was, I'd probably stop talking to him because of such stupidity... :p

It was just a random picture that I saw on the internet and I thought it was hilarious, so I just thought I'd share it with you guys.

Quite fake. The cooling doesn't even look like it's attached to the card, and the connector definately looks like a PCI-X, which, incidently, is backwards compatible with PCI so even if it was a PCI-X graphics card you could just plug it into a PCI-slot without cutting of any parts.

First rule in doing anything computer related: don't modify the hardware physically!
I think it would be much easier if you have little knowledge of computer hardware to get a more savvy friend to do it for you, that way you don't mess stuff up and have wasted money.
