Well, there are plenty of free web hosting portals but in general...a site isn't something private. The need for a website arises when you want to show something to the public online. Chat with friends is easily (and more comfortably) achieved through instant messengers that also let you send files and even play games. |

If you're trying to chat/conference or something, you can just use something like SightSpeed. If you want a more serious website to keep in touch with, and insist on the whole thing being completely private, and if you know what you're doing, you can always set up PHPNuke. Think of it as your very own slashdot. |

A flash(swish) based website (possibly with the use of Autoplay Media), would enable you to restrict unrelated members of the general public. |
