The DV newsletter is still unfortunately in the planning stages.

Most internet maintenance gets done on Tuesdays, that's probably all it is. Or else they were overwhelmed with requests and the systems went down due to that, Firefox and Wine are open source and don't really have big budgets for servers.

Mozilla is loaded, and besides most significant open source software is "sponsored" (read: support contracted) by large companies nowadays anyway.

Our latest deadline is less that two weeks, however i'm pushing it to the weekend, i think its important we get something out there. So don't worry, it may not appear as though much is going on but a lot will be taking place in the forum over the next few days to push this thing out.

Wine might be sponsored by Sun, but I'm pretty sure that Firefox pays for itself via advertising and it still independent of big corporations.

I had no trouble snagging Spore (tho it won't work with my GPU), but I've tried Mozilla 3-4 times today, and no luck.

Yeah but that's a different "might." Your original quote was "Wine might be sponsored by Sun, but I'm pretty sure that Firefox pays for itself... ." The word "might" in the "[subject] might [predicate], but ..." construction has a different meaning than "possibly." I'm pretty sure you were stating the same thing as "While Wine is sponsored by Sun, I'm pretty sure that Firefox pays for itself... ." That's how I use that construction anyway. Does Corel still make an office suite? Word Perfect was always so much better than Word.

oh that creature creator is sooo cool! I've been playing with it for like three days. I mean you only get 25% of the parts( more like 20% heads wise) and it still rules.

Yeah, and makes a fortune from it. So much for the "no money for servers" argument. Also: Mozilla is pretty much dependent on Google, because that's where most of it's revenue comes from. The same with Opera; whilst some revenue comes from selling their mobile versions, the largest revenue comes from Yahoo! and Google. Basically any pre-set search bar in Firefox or Opera is paid for.
