your best bet is probably an external hard disk |

So I'm selling my PC, and getting a laptop. I have a lot of pictures and videos stored on this PC, and am wondering what's the easiest and most reliable way of storing them so I can transfer them all to my laptop. (Or at least transfer most of them) |

That's probably the best way but considering how much I'm paying for this laptop. |
|
Hey reinstall the system on your old laptop before you sell it if you want all your stuff gone. At least, that's what I've done multiple times - and not because I wanted to.. but the "stuff gone" part was a pleasant side-effect. |

To securely erase the hard drive, people say that the free Darik's Boot and Nuke is good. |
|
An external hard drive is definitely your best bet. You can get a fairly large one for $80 at Costco. They're incredibly useful for backups, too, so you won't be paying $80 just to transfer your stuff. |
|
So besides getting a hard drive, there's pretty much no other way..? |
|
no, it's not the only way |

Aw why HP? |

Thanks Ynot. I probably won't have the PC when I do get the laptop, but considering who I'm selling it to, I don't think it would be much of a problem transferring stuff. Exactly how would I go about doing that? Is it a fairly easy process? |

dv2500 *cough* |

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.
The new tx2500z has a much upgraded graphics card... I'm not sure how much but I can't check since I'm uploading somethng at the moment, and my downstream speed is 1.46KB/s. |

Thanks for advice etc. |

Why don't you just get a good laptop ($999 - $1299 price range) like a ThinkPad R or T series now, so you can keep it for college? It will save quite a bit of money. If it's your parents' money and thus you don't care and still want a 2-year laptop, just get an Eee. |
|
Mainly because I want to get a new laptop when I go to college/university. (Yes, I am from the US) |
