That much virtual memory will run very very slowly. What program is this? I would recommend upgrading your computer to 4 or 8 GB soon though

god i know man. ive had this shitty laptop for a couple of years, its broken tons of times and ive had to repace different things. but ive never upgraded my RAM, ive never had the need to. and i also snapped one of the wee bits that hold onto the RAM, so i cant put some in now.
and i dont have the money for a new laptop, so i really want to know if this will work.

No. You can't just pull more memory out of nowhere, sadly. If you could, no one would need to buy RAM.

But I didn't upgrade your laptop, and it crashed.

Get a new one, save your money.

its called virtual memory, like i said in original post. its a bit of hard drive space used as main memory, but runs dead slow

Yes, and it's too slow to be useful. The reason the app requires 2 GB is so that it can run at proper speed. If you're using 2 GB of virtual memory, then it will be incredibly slow, and probably still won't work. What app is this, anyway?

It would only work if you are using Linux, Vista x64, or Mac.

Yes, I don't know about other vendors, but Macs ship with 4 GB, Mac Pros ship with 6GB. They are upgradable to 8GB for Macs and 32GB for Mac Pros. Dell too it seems.

No, that's right. Remember, graphic designers, 3D artists all use Macs, lots of times those types of applications require ungodly amounts of RAM. Fluid simulations are insanely hard on RAM and processing. All render clusters are high end Mac Pros.

wow, i think that ive just changed my mind about macs. they are actually awsome.

you can put other OS on a mac apart from macOS cant you? because the OS is now the only thing i dont really like about macs (except the price obviously)

Yes, boot camp lets you install and run any operating system you want. Just to let you know, Pros are very expensive The 32GB upgrade is an extra 6100 dollars. That's why only pros use them

i wouldnt buy one, its way too expensive for what it would be worth to me. but i now see it as a good piece of equipment.

but anyway, i think i might sell my laptop, or all the individual parts, depending on what i get in total from it. and i found a laptop just there on the internet with a half decent processor but with crap RAM, but i found a cheap 2Gb RAM upgrade.

i might do that, or i might not, depending on if i can get enough money from selling my laptop. (and tons of games im selling and a psp)
it should add up just fine

modern server motherboards routinely support 192Gb or even 256Gb of RAM
You'll pay many thousands for just the mobo, but they're available if you need that amount of memory

Apple machines traditionally uses better hardware than bog standard OEM windows machines

it's all about how much you're willing to fork out

Servers are usually about 18 inches by 18 inches by 2 inches.

If you can afford Photoshop, then you can afford the RAM upgrade
