The iPhone's got a capacitive touch screen, doesn't it? |

I nice person gave me his old 3G and yesterday I accidently dropped it. The glass is busted all over....I feel sick. I don't have extra bucks to get it fixed by a phone store for many months. Has anyone here replaced the iphone glass themselves? How did it go? |

I watched videos of people prying off the top and using "replacement kits" you can purchase. Supposedly these fixed phones will continue to work....but I'm |

Well, you can try. What's the worst that will happen, you break a broken phone? I would try and fix it myself, and then send it in if it still doesn't work. |

That's a bit of a pisser! Never heard of anyone replacing it themselves though... I didn't even know you could send it in for repair, I thought you straight up swapped it for new. |

I dropped mine and had to replace the screen, all you do is take a razor and run along the edges of the screen and then lift it up. |

iphone insurance? |

You could try to blag it - on the bottom where you plug in the lead, are there any cracks? The iPhone is prone to stress fractures there. If yours has them, make an appointment with apple for a replacement, then the day before the appointment just say you dropped it or something? Or as you approach the store drop it on the floor and claim it just broke there and then? LOL |
