      Video editing

So I finally got a camera and I want to start posting some videos on Youtube.

I want to know how to create intros and add special effects.

Can anyone tell me how to do stuff like that?

Keep in mind that if I need a particular program, that I'm running Ubuntu and not Windows.

Hmmm... I use Adobe After Effects. I dunno if you will find a way to use it on Ubuntu.

I just try to play the video.
I haven't even attempted editing anything yet.

      Code:
      sudo apt-get install ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg libavcodec-extra-52 libavdevice-extra-52 libavformat-extra-52 libavutil-extra-49 libpostproc-extra-51 libswscale-extra-0 gstreamer0.10-nice gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse gstreamer0.10-plugins-good gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio

      It's still locking up.
It played the video, but the audio was messed up, and then it just froze up on me.
Also, I noticed that the system load shot up.

I use Adobe Premiere Elements. It does a lot of basic stuff you'd like to do with YouTube videos. If you're rich, get After Effects instead.

I doubt I could get that to work on Linux.
I think more about going back to Windows everyday.

There's virtualization suites that work wonders for this purpose, but you need a fairly recent processor to use them. At least Core 2 Duo or newer.

No! You must fall back into Shadow, now that you have seen the Light!

After Effects is great. It is very easy to use when doing simple things, but when you make it look more impressive, then it gets harder.

Yea, mini, you ehhh... need to be rich... COUGH COUGH COUGH SPLUTTER TORRENT COUGH
