Should I keep this computer?

My old pc ( which was quite old, amd athlon xp 1500 + and a 128mb graphics card ) broke on me...actually the hard drive just crashed on me two days ago. It was old and slow anyway, wasn't but a matter of time before something died on it. I've had it for like 3 or 4 years.

I went to rent-a-center today and got a computer which is blazing fast. It is AMD athlon X2 5050e ( dual core ), 4 gigs of memory, 320gb hard drive, dvd burner, and ATI radeon 3200.

I've got to say, i've never had a computer this fast, lol, I'm sure I can run games at fantastic speeds.

The original price on it is $1,345.16, but with rent-a-center it's $2,703. Are those specs worth 2,700?

I'm thinking about keeping it. It's very high-end.

I'm going to use this computer for music production.

My father gave me his old puter, I wiped it, reinstalled xp with media player classic, codec packs, got a 1.5 tb external drive and loaded it with movies and hooked it onto the TV. Even an old puter can be used for something.

Tons of documentaries.

I only have one of my several computers on the net, to keep it isolated from my work and permanent files.

your right, i'm going to take this back in a week or so once i've gotten a hard drive to fix my old pc. Then build a pc from there.

what the hell was i thinking

they make it seem so cheap...$35.99 a week

The specs that you posted are not worth more than $1000, that's actually a fairly low end computer.
320GB is quiet small, most hard drives in medium to good computers are half terabyte to 1 terabyte.
Dual core is a very old processor (in computer terms) and only has 2 cores, most now have 4.
ATI radeon 3200 is a low end graphics card, if it's not supplemented with and intel or nvidea graphics card, it will not be able to handle intense graphics
All computers have dvd burners, don't let a salesman tell you it's a feature.
With those specs I can tell that it's a Windows PC, if using Windows, 4GB will become obsolete very quickly, you want 8 or 16GB of RAM for a desktop, 4GB is for laptops or Linux machines.

For 2700 you can buy a very high end machine, don't settle for that thing. I'm sure that you have friends who know about computers, have one of them go with you when you make a purchase.

i actually know quite a bit about computers, i'm certified to repair them.( that was like 3 years ago )

i had no idea terrabyte hard drives and 16GB of RAM were out already.

wow..technology moves fast.

terabyte drives are very common, 16GB ram is for higher end computers, most have 4, but if using Windows, that will be out of date in a year.

I don't really agree with this assessment. But you could get a computer with 4 GB RAM, if you make sure it's got room for expansion. Also, if you get more than 4 GB of RAM you should make sure you get a 64bit operating system.
