      Looking for a good laptop?

Is there a good enough laptop that will run video games on? I'm looking for a laptop with good memory and a graphics card. I know laptops weren't made to play video games on. I'm just wondering if there are any laptops out there that can run video games smoothly with no lag. The same with videos as well. I know there's a laptop called Origin 15 a gaming laptop that can play video games, movies, etc but it's too expensive. I would appreciate the help, thanks. Sorry if I'm sounding desperate.

The only reason laptops can be seen as bad for gaming is for their touchpad. It can be annoying sometimes.
And if that is the case for you, you can just buy a USB mouse for it. Which are really cheap.

My laptop was only 500 pounds (roughly 1000 dollars) and it is amazing. It has 4GB of RAM, and 2.6GHz dual core processor (AMD, not intel)
That was strangely cheap though, usually for that kind of price you would find about 3GB of RAM, and a slightly slower processor.

But really, you can find anything if you shop around enough.
And also, America is a lot cheaper than over here, so the price I got seemed really cheap to me, but to you Americans it probably seems just about right, or maybe too expensive, I don't know.

But yea, it depends on your budget. And taking into account American's cheapness, I think for a good enough laptop for gaming it would be about a minimum of 600 dollars (For new, that is. Second hand would be cheaper)

But yea, it is only the ridiculously cheap laptops that won't be any good for gaming (by that, I mean like, 400 dollars)

Laptops that are advertised as gaming laptops are typically quite expensive. Just got for something with at least a dual core processor, 4 gigs of ram, good amount of HD space, and some sort of onboard graphics card that is not one of those crappy intel based ones. Either way if you want to play the latest games on a laptop, you're going to pay out the ass for it.

      lmao! bite me (j/k)

My netbook is a HP mini and i can play portal, Spore, GW, Fallout3, Oblivion, Crysis... I spent $464.50 on mine and it's a tough little guy, does me a real solid this one.

DON'T get a mini though, i'm straining this one to just play those games.

I had a laptop that could play just about anything and was indeed a tablet, i quite enjoyed it.

^ that computer you wont be sad about buying, just get the warranty if you do, and register it on day one because HP is infamous about bad os-driver compatibilities and more HP associated OS's crash and burn in the first week than most others... but they make damn good hardware. You just have to be careful about the drivers vs the OS issue.

      Lol

      I agree slash

Really, all you need to do is be fully aware of all the hardware and software that makes up the laptop, make sure it's enough to run it and know the laptops limits on battery life and overheating and things of that nature. You wont pay much if you do like slash suggested and actually spend quality time shopping around for one. Don't just hop on the gravy train because you want it noa lol, you may end up with a disappointment in your lap...

How much would a laptop that could run GTA4 cost then? My desktop can't even run that at a decent frame rate. And by latest I mean the stuff that is coming out now. (Source games like Portal are not latest)
