      My WILD Tips

Having been on holidays for the last month, I pretty much tried to WILD most days. I had a bit of success, but didnt fully enter a LD.

I got a hold of a book about OBEs and had one literally 3 days after reading it.

The way most of the methods & guides on this forum work are called direct techniques. They dont really guarantee a LD, but some people learn it easier than others.

The method that worked for me is called and indirect technique, and is very similar to most WILD methods, just a bit more to the point. As follows -

First of all set your alarm clock for about 6 hours after you go to sleep. Once awake, go to the toilet, get a drink or whatever, and then go back to sleep. The important thing here is to make sure you go back to sleep with the intention of waking up within the next half hour, hour, 2 hours. Whatever. You'll likely be in a REM period after awaking after these times.

The next, and most important thing is to wake up again (after 0.5, 1, 1.5 hours etc) but to not move or open your eyes. This takes practice and is the probably the key part of the whole process.

Dont scratch, stretch, try even to avoid thinking random thoughts.

Once awake, try to observe HI for about 5 seconds. If you dont see anything, try listening to the whistling in your ears for about 5 seconds. Try to amplify it. Once again, if nothing happens move on. The next could be to try to focus on moving your hand or a finger but without using muscles (hard to describe, but you can practice by lying down and focusing of the intent to move a limb. Its a pretty crazy feeling) for about 5 seconds. If you feel a movement try to increase its range back and forward. If you feel nothing, try starting from HI again. Do this procedure about 4 times (like an algorithm).

So after trying the whole cycle 4 times, you should have spent about 1 and a half minutes attempting all this stuff. Doesnt seem like a very long time, but after awaking you have a very small window (that gets smaller for every passing second) to enter a LD or have an OBE. And you'll know when it works. Trust me.

If none of these seem to go anywhere, try to get back to sleep, but once again with the intention of waking up to try it all again.

If they work, you'll probably feel yourself spinning around, or get vibrations. You might even feel yourself separating from your body. At this point, try to roll out of bed. Or think about levitating.

I never understood people telling me to 'roll out' before I experienced it, but once again just focus on literally rolling out of your bed. You'll know what to do.

Once youre out of your body there are a whole bunch of techniques floating around on this forum to get you more deeply in the dream. I havent really mucked around with them.

      KEY POINTS -
      * Wake up after ~6 hours after going to sleep. Go back to sleep with the intention to get back up shortly and without moving.
      * Once awake do not move or open your eyes.
      * Cycle through HI, Listening, phantom moving limbs (hands, fingers etc) about 4 times (think and plan this very carefully before you go the sleep, as you dont really have much time to think about the whole process when you awake).
      * If nothing happens go back to sleep and try again later.

Im probably describing this pretty poorly, but reply if you have any questions.

The whole procedure means its easy to try it 4-5 times a night.

So ive gotten to the point of where i get these vibrations.Ive read that once u are at that point , ur really close to an OBE.
But i really cant get past that point .I am a pretty experienced lucid dreamer , but i really wanna have an OBE just to know whats cooler.
So what do i do after the vibration and whats the diff. between an ld and an OBE?

From the limited amount of reading ive done -
If you use a WILD type technique, and actually 'roll out' of your body, then thats an OBE.
If you become conscious in a dream and can control it, thats a LD.

As far as the vibrations go, you might have to check out some other threads. I only really got them once, and didnt get leave my body or get a dream or whatever.

The book im reading says to try and move them around you body, and / or try to amplify them. Once they reach their peak, try to 'levitiate' or 'roll out' of your body.

Dunno if that really helps, but I can answer questions on the technique ive described.

This works. The other day I woke up pretty early, remembered this thread, and told myself next time I wake up I'll stay still. So what happned was when I fell asleep I had a dream I was in some taxi, and the dude started driving like an idiot and I wanted to get out. Anyways, when that dream faded I woke up on my back and I was using my ipod, I thought to myself, "Damn I forgot to stay still." But as I looked closer to the ipod I saw a weird theme on it and told myself wow this must be a false awakening, as soon as I realized it, I woke up for real, but since I was lucid I remembered to stay still. So I'm laying there on my back, staring off into the blackness and realized that even though I could feel my real body in bed, I could STILL feel the ipod in my left hand (Dream hand). So I started moving my other dream hand around and thought to myself, "Sweet. I guess I can roll out now." But as soon as I got up my dream body faded and I felt my real body in bed. I got heavy vibrations and thought I could go back in but I have the bad habit of holding my breath during SP so I kinda woke myself up.

Anyways, this does work. It's kinda like a double WBTB. Wake up, go back to sleep, and wake up again with the intention of staying still, no pressure.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

Yup. I saw a graph and the probability of entering a dream or whatever drops pretty quickly after about 5-10 seconds. So you should not only not move, but also jump straight into your induction routine pretty much straight away.

Oh, and I find it only works for me when I wake up (the second time) on my back for some reason.
