      SSSzzzzzhhhhhhooooooooo

Okay, so twice now I have experienced this Szhooo of which I speak. It has been during WILD attempts only. Anyways I get to a point where I know that I am right in between the transition from awake to asleep, thus the transitional phase. Shortly after this point I experience Szhooo which is, (for those undoubtedly wondering) the feeling of me being sucked very intensely into a void, thus Szhooo. Both of these occurrences of Szhooo begin very randomly and end very quickly.

Now from what I have gathered, I am led to believe that Szhooo would be the beginning of sleep paralysis or some manner of dream taking hold. The only problem, is that it ends. I have heard people say "I literally jump into my dream" Should I attempt to jump when I am hit by Szhooo then?

The previous 2 times Szhooo occurred I waited it out, I would almost say I surfed the intense sucking back to normality, I don't want to do this, I don't try to do this, it seems my body is prone to defeating Szhooo against my own wishes.

Can anyone explain, suggest, or present me with an explanation or an idea as to how I might better "lift off" when this happens?

Well, you're probably getting excited, and waking yourself up. It will come with practice

I wait a minute or two to see if any dream forms, and then reality check.

Being excited did seem like a possibility to me, but the feeling itself is like coming over the top of a roller coaster and then plunging downward, it seems rather impossible to not be excited.
Do you know of any techniques or methods for remaining calm during, or "riding" the transition so to speak?

Am I the only person wondering what the hell Szhooo is?

For those that failed to read the first post, Szhooo, is the feeling of me being sucked very intensely into a void. It was dubbed the sound of description, for the feeling, by myself.

some actual constructive criticism would be appreciated.

Didn't see that there, sorry, I'm such an idiot.

Anyway, failing midway through SP (sleep paralysis) is quite common. You might wan't to look into DEILD as it makes the whole SP process a little easier.

Since no one here is helping, I'll lend a hand.

When you hear this noise, do you see an HI or imagery?
Can you clarify what happens after the noise dissipates?

If I were you I'd try to jump or transition into a dream after. And if you wake up or get out of this state, reality check.

But maybe you need to try again and wait it out, you might get something after this noise.

I'm not one who has much experience to talk, but you might want to try visualizing a dream scene as this begins to occur, especially if you consider yourself a particularly visual person. I'm pretty sure it'll help distract you from the szhooo, making you not get as excited; plus, it has the benefit of likely being able to transition you into the dream of your choice. Not completely sure it will work, but it's certainly worth a shot.

Dreaming, I was only dreaming, of another place in time, where my family's from.
Singing, I can hear them singing, when the rain it washed away, all these scattered dreams.

I do not see any outstanding HI, what I get is more of a thick black wall, yet more realistic and concrete than any previous images or scenes. When the feeling/noise strikes, I can feel, see, and hear a definite transition from what was me lying in bed staring at the back of my eyelids a moment earlier.

I almost feel as if my body is fighting the "transition" (I'm assuming that's what this is) when it occurs, not in any full frontal clash, but in a subtle mind game, where I bring myself back to reality. I can't help this, I am more than eager to experience the transition while conscious, but I feel as if my body does not agree. Once the feeling has dissipated I feel entirely normal as if it had never occurred.

      @ CrimsonStorm

I actually like your idea quite a bit. When Szhooo has happened I have failed to focus on anything but the feeling, of course it's difficult not to. Maybe with a more open and determined mind I might be able to interpret the feeling as part of a dreamscape and push myself into a lucid, rather than being surprised.

      Will give it a try

I'm fairly certain I've experienced something similar to this on several occasions. Your description is way too similar to my experiences to simply dismiss. Obviously, the times I've gotten through it were done by ignoring the sensation (to the best of my abilities) and directing my attention elsewhere. Crimson's idea would lend itself well to that, as would a solid anchor, or any number of awareness exercises. Still, you really need to do your best to disregard it. This is because every time I've failed a WILD where this occurred, I didn't properly compensate for the sensation, and it held my focus, preventing me from completing the transition.

Do you know of any posts or threads with any useful information on anchors/awareness exercises that you think might pertain to this? If you do, could you link them if it's not too much trouble?

I'm assuming an awareness exercise would be counting, focusing on breathing etc. please correct me if I'm wrong.
