      Blank Sleep Paralasys

Well for the last couple nights, I've been trying DEILDs, and failing. So instead I try a WILD. I lay there, just focusing on my breathing and heartbeat. Each time, I feel myself go into SP. I feel a tingly wave across my body and a quick thought goes through my head "Here we go". Then, nothing. Nothing at all. I wait, still counting my breaths and heartbeats. I heard somewhere on this forum that that blank sound you always hear called tillitus or something, intensifies at the transition point. It did after a minute and I decided to see if I could enter my dream. I quickly rolled over and bumped my head on the wall. I did a RC, and I was awake. I try this maybe three times before giving up and just going to sleep. What am I doing wrong?

I've only gotten to sleep paralysis twice, and still haven't managed to actually start dreaming. From what you're describing, it doesn't sound like you've actually reached SP. The tingling feeling is the preliminary stages, but the onset of SP feels very strong and very uncomfortable. There is a sensation of falling, or being spun around like you're being sucked into a black hole. Sometimes it feels like your body is shrinking or there is a large weight on your chest and it gets hard to breathe. I've had similar sensations when falling asleep with a very high fever. It's pretty frightening, but you just have to sit through it and remember that it's all supposed to be happening. I recommend trying to stare past your eyelids, as if your eyes were open. Try to imagine using your "dream body". It's important to separate your perception from your physical body. You probably won't be able to do it the first few times, but like everything, you will improve with practice. Good luck!
