Looking for a review of my "methods"/Progress

Alright, this is how I attempt WILDing, or as far as I've got. I'd like to get a few things looked over and make sure I understand it right.

1.) I usually try as I fall asleep at the beginning of the night mostly as practice, but for a real attempt I wait for 3-5 hours of sleep first.

2.) I lie down and get comfortable, regardless of position. Probably spend 10-15 minutes lying around not really doing anything, just relaxing.

3.) Sometimes I automatically get a heavy/buzzing sensation throughout my body at part 2, but if not It usually comes here. At this point I will switch between a few things: A.) I'll "gently" focus on the ringing in my ear. B.) I'll try to passively watch the darkness in front of me (I often have images and vague pictures poping up which I assume are Hypnagogia, and I sometimes watch and play with these, but nothing ever really happens) C.) Observe and "play" with the buzzing and D.) Occasionally just try to blank my mind completely.
** I occasionally get sudden intensification of these vibes, accompanied by a mild sinking feeling sometimes, but they're usually so abrupt that despite my attempt at passively letting them wash over, they sorta jolt me awake and my heart rate increases. I can also induce a vague feeling of moving my "phantom" body, as it were, but pushing this at all results in slight tightening of my muscles or twitches, or simply real movement...**

I'm assuming the buzzing is sleep paralysis. It varies in intensities, but I've never been unable to move (except once when I was startled awake). Typically I just get stuck at part 3. I understand that I'm supposed to be trying to fall asleep, not focus entirely on these things, and I still just end up lying there.

Is my SP simply not progressed far enough? AM I supposed to be immobile? Also, I read a post that when focusing on, for example the ringing, I should not be doing it the entire time (however passive I'm trying to be with it), rather I should be noticing it every now and again? And if that's the case, between noticing should I just let my mind wander and ramble or be trying to quiet it (which takes a bit of effort in itself?) I've also been meditating once a day or so simply as practice.

Sorry for all the questions. I'd appreciate it if someone would PM me so we can try to catch each other in Chat as well, may be a bit easier.

Thanks a lot, I know there's a bazillion of these.

At night is the worst time to make an attempt. 5 hours is an absolute bare minimum. It is universally accepted that 6 hours sleep is the ideal time before attemting to WILD.

Nothing wrong with that. Do you remain motionless?

The buzzing happens before sleep paralysis. You need to relax through the intense vibration stage. Once you have done this you can then attempt to induce sleep paralysis. A quick method is to slightly twitch muscles over your body every fifteen seconds or so. You will find with practice that the body part you are twitching will enter sleep paralysis. Keep at it you are nearly there.

Whatchoo talkin' bout Willis? =P (sitcom reference btw lol)

Yeah, thanks for the help. I know trying at night is effectively useless. But I do it just for the sake of practice. And for those 15 minutes I move around as I please. Once I get settled in though I rarely have the urge to move. If it bothers me, I will move and just continue trying.

So I take it the actual immobilization is required? Cause that buzz I get can be pretty intense (I used to could make it feel like my entire body was being shaken around, I can't seem to get that going anymore though)

To put it cruedly, when you get the urge to move and then move your body will say to itself the mind hasn't gone to sleep yet so Im not going into sleep paralysis yet. If you stay still your body will think (of course it doesn't think but its just a crude simple way to describe the process) your mind has gone to sleep and will then enter sleep paralysis as long as your in a deep enough trance .

I think you might have misunderstood me. I understand that you're not supposed to move. I've heard "SP" being called just the buzz/vibrations by some people; however, others say that when they experience SP they literally are sort of paralyzed (difficulty moving even if they try that is). Or maybe I misunderstood you lol.

Indeed Buzz/vibrations doesn't automatically assume sleep paralysis.

The body cant think! Please do not give the wrong information. As the body can't think it can't say "Oh the mind hasn't fallen asleep I'll be awake too". The only part of the human anatomy that can perform such action is the human brain.

I said, quote, "(of course it doesn't think but its just a crude simple way to describe the process)" I was trying to explain the process in simple everyday language so that others would understand. What don't you understand?
