      Failed attempt

Anyway, everyone, I'm reporting to you after my first (unsuccessful) attempt at WILD. Please try and read this and tell me if you know anything that could help with my next attempt.
I didn't use the DIELD because every time I try to do something like that, I decide I would rather keep sleeping than try to have a lucid dream. I waited until I was pretty tired to try this, it was dark outside, and the house was as quiet as it gets. I didn't eat soon before, I used the bathroom right before, and I sat in the dark for awhile to adjust my eyes.
I started off counting breaths in German like this: "-inhale- Eins -exhale- I'm going to dream," but I kept zoning out and forgetting what sentence came after the number. Each time, I would think, "What am I going to do?" and remember that I was going to dream. I slipped into English at around the 200 mark, I just started in German so I wouldn't lose consciousness during the lower numbers. I imagined a picture of each number in my head as I thought it.
I was doing pretty well, though I had some minor urges to move, until I got to 500, when my throat started to itch really badly and I thought I was going to cough. I was too stubborn to give up, so I just swallowed and focused on the numbers. The itch went away by 600, but my heart started pounding.
The next few minutes passed without event, but I had what might have been hypnogogic sounds at around 850. The sounds were of two small things, about 20 breaths apart, hitting the wall or bed headboard near me. I got kind of scared, because 1. If they weren't imagined, those were the sounds of two bugs landing near me and I hate bugs and 2. If they weren't imagined, what if I ended up in a dream about being covered in bugs? I tried to ignore it and focus on the numbers.
At 900, I started getting distracted, thinking about how I was going to get online and tell people about what it was like to WILD and get advice from them on how to do it faster, and also, I kept thinking of The Brady Bunch theme song for no reason. I've never even watched that show.
1000 was where the trouble started. I hadn't noticed at first, but my left arm was bent kind of awkwardly, and my elbow started to ache really badly. I told myself, "I've probably been in this position before while I slept without a problem, so maybe it's the big signal from my brain to move that I read about. If I wait this out, I might pass into a dream!" But I kept wondering, "What if I'm pinching a nerve and my arm will end up hurting for a long time or falling off?" So before I could help myself, I moved my finger, then my arm. I checked the clock and about 80 minutes had passed since I started my attempt. I did as many reality checks as I could think of after that, so I'm pretty certain that I'm awake right now.
Any advice for next time? I tried the cellphone trick but it didn't work. Did I make some glaringly obvious mistake? How close did I come?

With how you explain it, you sound somewhat close to achieving SP, but your doubts and expectations from what you read on this site are not gonna allow you to succesfully wild. Questions like "I'v been laying here for 30 minutes without moving just like people say to do on DV, so why arent I progressing into SP?" are what will hinder your attempts. You need to remember all that you have learned about WILDing while you attempt it, but at the same time, have an empty mind with no expectations. The more you question yourself while your are lying down, the more likely your brain will keep you awake.

I had this same problem (as does everyone at some point) and when I just said screw it, laid down to WILD with no expectations of what I "should" be experiencing, I drifted into a dream and quickly came out of it into SP.

Basically, patience is the key. Don't worry about how long its going to take just
keep in your mind the prospect of a beautiful lucid dream awaiting you, enjoy
the hypnagogic imagery and keep your body still for however long it takes. When
you enter sleep paralysis, YOU'LL KNOW IT! It will probably startle you. Be prepared
for a very intense experience and whatever you do, don't move a muscle.

I'm about to go to bed and begin my 12th or so WILD attempt. Really excited because my last attempt
got me into the sp transition and the shear intensity startled me. I accidentally moved and I lost
it. But I'm optimistic for tonight

Good luck with your later attempts,
      ~Wes

Dont mean to steal the thread, but might as well ask b/c you seem to know about sp.

Have you experienced more than one stage of sp? meaning before you have completely gone into it, has it ever occurred where you could still
physically move, but only the slightest bit (not much more than wiggling the fingers) ? The last two attempts Ive made got me into a stage
where I would be able to open my eyes, see around my room, yet notice no strange or hallucinogenic imagery. I then would try to move but only
be able to move some fingers or slowly sway my feet. I felt like my perception was in complete slow motion. Then, if I stopped and relaxed completely,
I would get the intense vibrations, feel as though I weighed a thousand pounds, and find myself in SP.

So what is this stage that occurs right before I reach full SP? Would be very reassuring to know im not the only one who goes through this!

right before sp as you describe, your entire body will be numb and possibly dissoriented. You'll start to kind of feel pressure and you will be able to
move slightly but it will cause your body to wake up a bit. I don't think there is a special term for it, just early stage sleep paralysis.

Okay, I guess that would make sense cause disoriented definitely describes the feeling. Glad to know I'm not possessed from a DMT trip that I had about 2 weeks beforehand.

lol. I remember a DXM trip I had once and when I WILD it feels very similar.

Alright, I'll work on not questioning myself so much. I tried again yesterday, but I was too tired and couldn't focus. I'm going to try again soon.

Never tried DXM but it sounds fun. Speaking of it, check this video out if you havent seen it before:

YouTube - this is how we trip

is that what DXM will do to me?

Not if you don't go to fucking 9th plateau.... lol that video was hilarious
DXM will just numb your entire body ( it is a dis-associative ) and there
will be some hallucinations. It will also mess with your sense of time.
My best friend told me about his first DXM trip where, over a two week
period, he went and fixed everything that had been bothering him.

I had a bad experience with DXM though so I'm not really inclined to
      try it again.

Thats awesome! Oh what drugs can do... I once did that after smoking 2 blunts, but ended up only fixing one problem because I forgot about the rest

And Anthony, just keep practicing. But make sure when you try and WILD, that you are somewhat tired. This makes it much faster to get into SP. I usually go to sleep at 12 at night and wake up at 6:30 am then try and wild around 11ish. Hasn't failed me yet.

Umm sorry to interrupt but I have a really quick question. How long should it take to go from lying down to sleep paralysis? Does it really take 80 minutes of lying still? that seems like a really long time.

It's really not easy to say. I started out need over two hours for a WILD attempt and now I can get pretty close to SP in 30 minutes or less.
I hear some people can do it in about 15 or 20.

K, I guess WILD isn't the technique for me. I'm way too impatient >.>
