Trying to WILD. May be doing it wrong?

Alright, so here's basically ''my method."

      - Lay in bed on my back in a comfortable position.
      - Focus on my feet, 'telling' them to unwind/calm down/ease up/relax/whatever
      - Keep doing that to my body parts, and progress up.
      - I start to feel tingly/numbing sensations (a bit similar to SP)
      - Just focus on telling my body to 'go to sleep'
      - After anywhere from 1 - 5 hours of trying to get into SP, finally give up and roll over and go to sleep
      - After I do give up, I'm very stiff.

What am I doing wrong? Somebody explain to me? I might be doing the SP part wrong. I sometimes hear a bit of auditory hallucinations, but when I try and listen to them they go away.
      Help?

Well it seems if you do hear auditory hallucinations then you are getting a bit closer. My suggestion would be to just allow your body to passively hear them. These are still normally not good to focus on when attempting a WILD. I just allow myself to just focus on something, like the darkness in my eyelids and once you begin to either start seeing actual images and a dream scene or you feel like your body is falling into an abyss and you are being thrown into a dream, then you should start focusing on those things.

Thanks for the reply! I'll try that. I seem to focus to intently on the hallucinations and focus too much on trying to do it.
But I'll keep your bit of advice in mind. Thanks again.

Your very welcome! And remeber every WILD can be different, sometimes you may get hallucinations and sometimes you may not. Just keep yourself concious and you're good!

Hello Skyler. The process you're describing sounds somewhat similar to the 61 point relaxation. Relaxation exercises can be very helpful, however.. ask yourself this. Why is it that you can go to sleep easily when you jump in the bed and are just ready to venture into dreamland? Though, when you try to induce SP, you lie awake forever? There's something that's not quite right here and I'm willing to bet it's your positioning.

The key is to lie in a position that you can fall asleep in but not easily. I find it damn near impossible to sleep on my back, but I also find it almost impossible to stay awake on my side. To balance this out, I have begun lying on my back while tilting my face to the side. This has helped me tremendously.

I also encourage you to read this thread. The process of getting into SP consciously is not a difficult one if you perform what it says here. It's helped thousands of people master the art of inducing SP and perhaps it will help you as well. If you decide to incorporate the method described in that thread, please keep me updated via that thread of via PM. I'd like to hear your progress.

      Happy Lucids,

      - Jeff

When WILDing your primary goal is to reach state, where you fall asleep for few seconds and regain counsciousness and than you fall asleep and regain counsciousness again, it's a state where you are almost asleep. To achieve that you must lay in comfortable position (doesn't matter on which side) and you have to do some kind of technique (Doesn't have to be relaxing one). You can focus on your eyelids, breathing, sounds, imagined thing, thought, etc. Don't concentrate too hard thou, let your mind wonder a little. After about 10 minutes you should reach a state where it's becoming hard to focus and you are almost asleep, keep doing what you were doing and BAM, you are in a lucid dream. Be careful, you might get into Lucid while still lying in your bed. Be hyper-concentrated for anything strange happening (for example, you might end up in a different position, with your eyes opened or someone could talk in another room, even if it's impossible now). If you notice that you are in the phase, stand up, perform deepening and enjoy your LD.

P.S. If there is no result after 20 minutes, you should go back to sleep and try another night, practising 4 times per week is enough too.

I got all my lucids doing similar technique. it worked for me on my first try, but usually it works after few tries.

information taken from Michael Raduga's book.

      My opinion:
*Lucid Dreams, OBEs, Astral Projections are one and the same.
*There are no levels of lucidity. Quality changes if you apply some deepening.
*Lucid Dreams do not last more than 20 minutes.
      *Wolves are beautiful.
