It's not so much distracting your brain, more of occupying it.

If you listen to music, it is being delivered to your brain. If you just lay back and imagine stuff, like where you want to go, then thats your brain making up its own stuff. They are different.
You can drift away in the music I guess, but the sound might keep you up, and prevent the WILD.

      Moved to WILD Subforum

I think a better way to stay aware is to just keep counting through 1-10. If you have a fan or another small noise in the background you can pay attention to that as well.

P.S. Thanks for that song link...I have been looking for that song for forever

Anyway good luck! Remember to stay confident!

Anything to keep your mind off of your body, but focused. If you drift off too much, you just fall asleep. You need focus, but not on your body. Best way to do this is to not focus on what is real, but imagine something, and focus on that. You will forget about everything in your room, including your body, until a dream forms and you focus on that. Will enough luck and practice, you will make it all the way there.
