So, I'm going to explain exactly what happened to me, but before I do, I'm just going to ask my main question. How long does a WILD take, starting from when you start to see flashes, to when you enter the dream while seeing hypnagogic images and hearing/feeling buzzing?
So... yesterday, around 5 p.m. I was really tired, and decided to take a nap. I put in my ear buds, and turned on my home made 6hz beat (40hz bass) binaural beat mix... I lied on my back for about two hours, listening to the beat, and concentrating on my closed eyelids. After the two hours, I was starting to fall asleep, but every time I came close, my relaxed larynx would cause me to snore... so after a few times coming close to WILD'ing, only to start to snore, I gave up. I took out my ear buds, and turned onto my stomach (my most comfortable--non-snoring--position). I began to fall asleep rather quickly... I did exactly what I was doing with the binaural beats, only no binaural beats... except, I also chanted, "I'm lucid dreaming now," while looking at my eyelids. within minutes, I was asleep (I missed my chance to WILD).
Normally it takes hours for me to sleep, but anyways... I had an unusual dream, and somehow managed to DILD... I realized I was dreaming, and then began to fly. I made a mistake though... I didn't stabilize my dream in any way. Instead, I closed my eyes in the dream, and imagined what dreamscape I wanted to be in. But when I opened my eyes, I opened them in real life.
I immediately closed my eyes, and tried to WILD. I began to see flashes... then I started to hear this deafening buzzing, and I could feel it in my head. I also heard some faint voices. Not sure if I had sleep paralysis, as I didn't check if I could move. But I began to see hypnagogic images (little swirls of colored light). I decided it was time to try and enter the dream.
I remembered this technique where you imagine the sensation of rolling, in order to enter the dream. I tried this... suddenly, it felt as though I was rolling down a hill (I was controlling the rolling completely). From flashing, to rolling, it was about 5 minutes... after about a minute of rolling, I decided to try and imagine a dreamscape... but it did nothing. So I thought, "Maybe I should open my eyes," so I did... bad idea. I was still in waking life. I tried to close my eyes again, and the flashing and buzzing was still there, but not the swirls of light. Eventually it all faded away... I missed my chance to WILD.
So, like I said above... how long should I have waited until I started to imagine the dreamscape? Should I even try and imagine one, or will I eventually just enter one?
In short, how long does it take to go from beginning flashes, to entering the dreamscape???
