      Hit a brick wall

So I was posting a little bit a while back because I was finally making some real progress; SP was a regular thing for me and one time I almost got up out of my body into the lucid world (only my arm did, it was weird). Still seeking that elusive full lucid dream, but I was trying different WILD methods including WBTB and the 3 second-alarm-don't-move thing because they seemed to be working well for me. I was actually getting most of my results from napping but a few came in the morning after being awakened randomly by something and once from the 3 second method.. So this is all fine and dandy until I hit this massive dry spell of zero progress (at least I think). It's been at least 4 months since the last time I had intense SP which I usually get, and lately my ability to stay consciously aware while I sleep has changed. Now, I go to sleep and once I am in a comfortable position I won't move for 20 minutes to 1 hour and a half. During this period I get really weird body sensations but nothing like before (I could feel the onset of SP and the body sensations were of a different feeling). If I don't pay attention I just pass out for a little while (or the whole night if I'm not napping). Only once did I feel close to what I felt in the past months, but I started reading into wake initiated lucid dreaming straight from and awake state, and I understand it could be possible and could not (and everything in between). I am not looking for advice on lucid dreaming straight from a waking state but I can't shake this nightly process now. It even happens when I nap. I never used to try to stay conscious directly after laying down, but now I can't not do it.

Any suggestions on how to get back on track? I have a 6 week break coming up with nothing on my calendar so I am open to any kind of suggestions involving sleep regime.

If you truly can't move no matter what, you have SP. But if you feel all kinds of strange sensations, those are things that happen as we falling asleep, not SP.

We have a great new WILD (sageous) tutorial. And here is an article about sensations and how to use them to enter WILD.

As you will find out in the guides, those sensations are best observed passively. You can try visualizing any previous dream to get your mind into "dreaming mood". To keep your mind awake, try repeating some simple mantras, untill you enter lucid dream.

Good luck and if you need more help, just ask. Happy dreams
