Waking up in the middle of the night.

I am waking few times a night. (I wasn't some time ago, but I was practicing DEILD, and now I am. I don't regret it ) Everytime I wake up, I'm just closing my eyes and it feels like seconds later I'm sleeping.
      Few questions about it:

      1. If I open my eyes, and then close them, without moving my body, would it be possible to DEILD?
      2. If not, would that make my WILD attempt faster? If yes, how much faster?
      3. How can I keep my awareness while being in a half-awake near-sleeping state?
      4. What are my brainwaves when waking up at night, without moving my body? (With eyes opened)

      Thanks

When you DEILD, there's no need to open your eyes and then close them again. Check out some of the DEILD tutorials, and they will provide a little more information.

      I know, right?
Why would I do that on purpose?

My problem is that I'm unable to keep them closed. I can stay motionless, though.

If your room is dark, there's no reason to believe that opening your eyes briefly will wake you up by a noticeable amount. In fact, there's a technique called "reverse blinking" that some people use to make themselves feel more tired. It probably wouldn't help with DEILD, but it shows that briefly opening your eyes doesn't necessarily mess it all up.

To answer #3, I would say that this is the "hard part" of DEILD. It's up to you to discover how to strike a balance and let your thoughts become illogical without losing consciousness. Practice makes perfect.

#4: Theta waves most likely. If you cross over into alpha then you can't DEILD. Don't let that happen

Did you take having your eyes opened into account?

For the first few seconds, it doesn't matter whether they're open or closed, you're still asleep either way. All I meant by my comment was that if you feel yourself go from feeling groggy and dreamy to just relaxed (but awake), then you missed your chance to DEILD.
