      almost lucid, so disappointed...

Ok, last night i attempted to get my second lucid dream. My plan was to set my alarm for 4:30am, but i had to turn it off for reasons. Anyway...so i decide ill lay on my back and try to ld without an alarm. So im laying there, not really expecting much, i relaxed my entire body and ignored every itch or desire to move.
After a while of laying there i realise im having problems keeping my eyes still. And i keep wanting to swallow my saliva. These two things are really hindering me.
Ill lay there trying to see the HHs and all i see is like black and grey smoke, everyonce in a while faint shapes and objects occur. I try to see these with my third eye....as i see them...but im mot trying to look, but then my eyes look and i guess they dont lock on to anything, so they just kind of dart around and keep me from going further, i tried so hard to contain them. Any ideas one controlling them?
Also i keep wanting to swallow, last night i finally got to where i could ignore it if i tried really hard. It was really uncomfortable, but any suggestions on this as well? I keep feel im getting choked up.

The good news though....while i could controll those things....i was laying there and i started to get a light tingle, that was cool, and then i heard my neighbors loud truck coming down the street....turns out though that i was hearing a loud umm kind of...well it sounded just like a large engine with a loud exhaust but far in the distance, getting closer...haha you all know what im talking about.

One more issue...i keep thinking im getting close to getting intense vibrations and sound....then either...my wife will move and throw me off....or one of our dogs will nudge me....or my daughter will come running to our room, is there a good way to ignore outside distractions? Thanks everyone, this forum is alot of help, i did try searching for similar things with the search button but came up empty,im sorry if i missed something

      David,

you are allowed to move and scratch and swallow. If you do it without paying attention to it, it will not harm your attempt. It's much better to gently take care of the problem, than allowing it to bother you.

Do you have a qiet place where you can do your WILDs? Like a living room sofa? If you have a "special place" for WILDing, your mind will get it, that you not just trying to go to sleep normally, but you are after something special. And it may be more quiet.

Btw, sometimes small distractions can help. Sometimes my cat sleeps on me when I WILD. Once, he kept waking me up and that way I had more chances of falling asleep lucidly. But I understand, that it can be too distracting.

I would take every attempt as a learning opportunity. No two WILD attempts are same. Please don't be waiting for anything. If you wait for something specific, like vibrations or sounds, you will miss your opportunity, if they don't come. And often they won't come. You may have different sensations each time, so be ready for anything and nothing.

Not every time you WILD you will get a LD. Far from it. Don't be disappointed, be thrilled, that you are one step closer. Your mind listens to you and you and if you didn't like the experience, it may not give it to you next time.

      WILD (sageous)

I will keep that in mind, i am glad i got that far, i just really wanted to get further that i did. Im glad imstarting to get somewhere though. I could try to do it on the couch but i think ill be more comfortable in my bed, ive been trying in my bed for a long time so would it be best to keep trying there? Ill keep trying though, maybe ill go to bed a little earlier tonight, thatll give me more time to try i bet, ill do my best to relax and just let it come to me.

Bed or sofa - that really is a personal preference. Should not make much of a difference. Unless one place is more peacefull.

Keep trying. The sensations I get are often as much fun as LD, if not more. So many times I'm happy just with an attempt, even if I don't reach LD. Maybe you will like them too.

You are so right, the sensations are awesome, even though being paralised the other night scared me to death at the time, it was kind of cool. And i love the tingly feeling as well as the humming sound, id like it to be intense again like that first night, i just wasnt prepared for it at the time. I also feel some other weird sensations when that stuff starts to intensify, but i wont go into that. I cant wait to try again tonight, im going to do my best to let my eyes rest and stop darting around.
