      Wild

I've returned to my attempt at gaining lucidity once again, as I've got free time on my hands than what I know what to do with.

I just want to ask the community a question really quick: I spent a few weeks attempting my first DILD with no luck, and eventually gave up and waited for more free time (as I do know). Last night, I believe I had my very first Lucid Dream (DILD); however, now that I want to try and get back into the swing of things...I want to attempt the WILD method, as it seems very...very handy (you can practically create your Lucid Dream when you want it, if I'm not mistaken).

Does anyone have any professional opinions on this? Is going from attempting DILD to WILD a large jump?

      Thanks,
      Buckey

WILD isn't more difficult than DILD per-se, it's just that it's a lot harder to teach WILD to someone because the transition of from going to awake->sleep is very different for each person, some people just feel a slight tingle, do a reality check, and they are in a lucid dream. But for some people the transition is more "violent" for lack of a better term, I fall under this category, my body vibrates like crazy, and it feels like someone like someone set off an atomic bomb inside my head, crazy flashing lights and extremely loud sounds, after 2-3 (subjectively, probably more like 1) minutes of this I "pop" out of my body and I'm in the dream.

Most people rest somewhere in the middle of those two extremes, but some people might not feel anything, and they are already dreaming. The difficult part about WILD is knowing your own transition phase well enough so that you don't miss it, and are just lying there in bed, when you are actually in a lucid dream. Look up the WBTB technique as it will greatly increase your chances of success, I assume you have already read the WILD tutorial, if not check that out too.

I think the WILD technique is very neat. However, do you think the chance of these violent transitions are any reason to stop myself from learning it? Is it safe, you know, health wise. If there isn't any risks involved, then I'd be happy to experience something like that I guess. o.O

Everyone thinks WILD is hard but it's not. It's about finding your unique way of doing it. I am personally not a pro at this but the few times I successfully WILDed nothing special happened, I just popped into a dream after some time. You really shouldn't worry about hallucinations and such, there are no risks. If you want to have more chances succeeding I suggest you should try DEILD, which is a modification of WILD where you transition into a dream much faster. It's basically doing WILD after a dream: because you are in REM sleep the wait is much shorter, for me it takes about 5-10 secs. However moving reduces the chances of success: the best thing to do is to wake up after dreams using a mantra. For more info on that method I suggest you to read this awesome guide written by one of our dream guides dutchraptor.

I hope this cleared out things and helped you,
      Simon

Sorry, i thought i put a disclaimer in about that specifically, there are no health issues with doing a WILD, all of the things you see/hear/feel are hallucinations, a side effect of your mind being aware while your body has fallen asleep. If you don't know what's happening it could be a scary experience, but this should in no way dissuade you from attempting it. Also, most people have a transition no where near as bad the one I described, I just put that there as an example of the 2 extremes, so if you did experience something like that, you wouldn't be completely freaked out :p . In all likelihood you will probably here some buzzing or ringing in your ears, and see things akin to what you see when you put pressure on your eyeballs for a second, you might feel like your body is filled with static, but you might not feel anything. It varies from person to person, but no matter how intense it is, it cannot hurt you.

Like everyone else said, WILD is not really more difficult than DILD, it's just that it varies from person to person which method works better, i personally started my lucid dreaming path from WILDs and now i am getting both WILDs and DILDs. When i do WILD, even when i fail i still have a good chance to get DILD, so i suggest making use of both methods if it's possible.
If you want to start with WILD, definitely check out those tutorials:
