Active engaging instead of passive observation?

So, since I have started to research WILD I see so many advice "keep passive observation of your thoughts". But today I stumbled on a post of FaceBook Lucid Dreaming group where on member wrote a technique about active engaging in lucid dream induction.

Basically, you start with a thought and "rush" toward it focusing on that moving and don't stop until you see full dreamscape. Then you start making physical contact with everything around yourself while continuing moving. You keep doing that until you are in stable dream.

I have tried it half an hour ago just to get at gist of it. I started in some 2D cartoon-ish like town and then it became 3D. I continued and went through couple of Skyrim cities and eventually finishing in mole's underground tunnels xD I haven't got lucid, but it was good experience. And it is 6 hours since I woke up, and I will try it with WBTB tomorrow. I am just wondering how to maintain aware since I almost lost myself.

So, give me your opinion on this technique

it's ok but you need to be aware all that time that you are thinking, or that you are actively engaging with a thought. If you forget that, then I don't think it's really possible to enter dreamworld fully conscious.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. Yesterday I tried this technique and I started to lose myself and I knew I was going to fall asleep, so I broke up attempt because I didn't want to pass out.

What did the other members of that Facebook group think of the technique? Any successes?
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

No one replied to topic except me. I didn't hear any other feedback. I am really interested in this because it is complete opposite of most of WILD techniques. I didn't have time last few days to experiment with this. Tomorrow I will provide link to facebook post :-)
