      vibrations?

well i tried to WILD last night and i had a few questions. i woke up at around 3:45 and went to the bathroom, stretched and went back to bed. i laid on my side and did the alphabet method i.e.(breathe-a-picture something that starts with an a, breathe-b-picture something that starts with a b...etc.). after a few minutes i lost any feeling in my limbs, i didnt even know where they were positioned. then i felt a small but sudden vibration in my chest. it lasted only a second and it happened twice. i then gave up after about ten minutes later, as nothing happened.

      1. was the vibrations WILD vibrations?
      2. is the loss of feeling in my limbs sp?
      3. what do i do if the vibrations stop?

thanks in advance for the help.

The vibrations occurs when your astral body is leaving or attempting to leave your physical body. No one really knows why. Yes it was SP. The vibrations really aren't important unless you're trying to astral project.

when i get as far as the vibrations I sometimes tense up a tiny bit in expectation, just enough to make the WILD not happen. make sure you try and ignore everything the body is doing.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.

Vibrations do not necessarily mean you are "astral projecting". Vibrations are a part of the onset sleep paralysis. Some people vibrate, some go numb, some don't feel much of anything at all. You do not have to ignore them, nor do you have to be keenly aware of them. Full body vibrations is a good indication that your body is going to sleep while you are mentally aware. This will not always happen for everyone. Experiences tend to be different from individual to individual.

I suggest that after the numbness and vibrations you wait a bit. You may or may not have HI. I've only experienced HI once. After you are pretty sure that your body is asleep you can then attempt to get up. I would suggest doing a reality check first. If you aren't positive you are sleep, do this check. Try to breathe while holding your breath. Close the back of your throat and then try to breathe. In a natural state you will feel resistance at the back of your throat. It is not possible to do. However, in a dream state it should be easy to breath while keeping your airways blocked. If you are breathing you have succeeded and can then move. If not, you may try another check.

This isn't a failproof suggestion. You may or may not succeed with your WILD, but this is a good way to test without moving and possibly breaking your SP. Also, if you are not in or near a REM cycle then even if you go into full SP the chance that you will enter a dream will be very slim.

I hope this helped answer your question. And remember, astral projection is NOT lucid dreaming. If you believe it is AP then you are NOT lucid (though you are dreaming), as lucid dreaming is KNOWING that you are dreaming, while you are dreaming. Astral Projection is a dream state (unless you believe it to be real) in which you believe you have left your body for real. You do not believe it to be a dream but an actual event. They are not the same.

ooh good, ill definitely try this tonight. i like the throat rc, i didnt want to move because i wont be able to do it again. i forgot to mention, after a few minutes of numbness, i start to see swirling colors. the only thing thats close to what i see is when you close your eyes and press lightly on your eyes. those swirling colors are what i see. is that HI?

Yes those swirling colors were HI. HI can include colors, images, and sounds. Some people use HI to induce lucid dreams. A lot have said that this method is tricky to use as it requires you to be interested but not eager or actively involved.

Basically if you start seeing and hearing stuff that you KNOW aren't happening (while you're drifting off) it is probably HI, unless you're high or hallucinating from an unnatural cause or a lack of sleep. Haha. So yeah, that is part of HI. However, note that in experienceing a WILD you may not necessarily have HI. I have had two WILDs so far and there was total blackness. Hmm, maybe that's because I laid down with a blindfold. Anyway, hope that helped!

Hmm. I tried WILDing today in a blindfold. I don't know if this makes sense, but I experienced two kinds of 'blackness'. Like the blackness on my eyelids suddenly became a deep blackness. I've experienced something similar before in meditation but nothing like I experienced today.

I get vibrations when I meditate, and I love it. I hardly ever experience vibrations as I'm falling asleep, though... hmm...

Yeah, it is a different kind of darkness. I said that because my brain seems to be stuck on what is real. Therefore if I think I can't see through a blindfold because I'm dreaming then I won't be able to see through it if I'm dreaming. I'm trying to fix that. But yeah, I know what you mean by that other darkness. It was like my whole body was gone and I was just a thought floating in a black void. I had no sense of time or anything. I just was, and then I felt my body "materialize" and I was in my WILD. It was the coolest sensation every next to the full body vibrations.
