      What am I doing wrong?

So, I've read the tutorials and all that jazz on WILD, and decided to give it a shot this afternoon. I got to the part where my body felt numb, and I was seeing swishes of color and bits of HI. But from there, I just kind of drew back to reality, I don't understand what I did wrong. Could anyone give some pointers as to what you do after you are seeing HI and feeling body numbness? Thanks!

I don't think you did anything specifically wrong. In fact, I think you're doing very well so far.

Can I ask how many WILD attemps you've made so far? Because if this was your first attempt, then you should be happy you got so close. WILDs usually take a little practice to get the hang of so keep trying and don't give up!

To keep from snapping back to reality, try to have a sort of passive awareness going. If you see HI and you suddenly try to focus on it too much, the rest of your brain will switch back into waking mode. So just very passively be aware and thinking that you are dreaming (even though the dream hasn't started yet, it will help to be thinking this as you transition so you don't fall unconscious or lose lucidity).

Nothing. Just keep lying there until you fall asleep.

Yeah, you're quite close to entering a dream. As the above posters have said, just keep at it, and you'll eventually stop focusing on the HI and other hallucinations, then enter a dream.

I've only really tried like 4 or 5 times. This is my first try to do it in the afternoon, seems like I'm having better luck than at night. I also started a journal where I jotted down what I think I might've been doing wrong, is this a good idea?

Keeping a journal is always a great idea, yes! Don't stress too much about not getting it right yet. I think you're doing a really great job so far. It may take you more tries to have that first WILD so don't give up! You're very close.

So I tried again today at the same time. Once again, body got numb, but this time I felt the numbness cover almost my whole body and I was starting to see ALOT of HI, I think I was right on the brink when my brother started swearing in the other room about his game and I snapped out of it

I've tried to WILD at night when I wake up, but I've never had any success. This is the second day in a row I've had near-success at it, very encouraging. Maybe tomorrow will be the day!

I did get the urge to roll over VERY strongly at one point, I've read from one place that if you roll over you can step into the dream world, but I also read that it resets everything. I'm pretty sturdy, so I doubt rolling over and off my bed would be that damaging, but I don't want to ruin a good chance :p
      any input? thanks!

Wow, that's some good progress compared to before. The urge to roll over could be your body testing you to see if you are awake, but maybe you would want to test it once and see what happens. Try reaching for an object you see (with your mind), and it may pull you into a dream instead. You can try to imagine rolling over, and that may bring you into a dream, but actually telling your muscles to move would snap you out of your trance.

No. Focus on the positive. Instead journal about your dreams, and all the positive experiences, and achievements.

For napping, try foam earplugs. They are comfortable and inexpensive.

As far as rolling over from your back to your side or whatever, experiment with staying completely still and resisting the urge, and giving in. I have found it necessary to lay on my side sometimes because I have sleep apnea. It does kind of "reset" everything, as far as SP, but at that point I usually have enough sleep hormones in my body that I can re-enter SP quickly, though I have found that the yoga position, shavassana, (on your back, palms upward) great for WILD's.

I'd say that you're making good progress. With my limited experience with WILDing (I've been here for two years, and am barely starting with WILDing...) and from what I've read, you should be REALLY close. I usually get to the point where my body feels strange, and I start to see some minor HI. In some of my first attempts, I tried to roll over, having read that rolling over will sometimes place one in an LD, but I just lost everything. With that said, I wouldn't try the rolling over.

Yea, that's what I'd read. Thanks for the confirmation, I was actually encouraged when I felt the urge because that seems to be a marker of sorts that you are very close.

Sorry for the bump, but I didn't want to start a new thread to ask a question relative to this thread. Is it possible to enter SP without any HI or any of that, and just sort of sit there in darkness waiting to enter a LD? And if so, how do you enter the dreamworld if you pretty sure you are in SP but aren't seeing any HI/dream imagery?

I know that it's possible, but I've never experienced it. I know that someone, on a tutorial I think, said that they lost the HI after they had been using WILD for a while. I think that it's in Clarity's WILD Tutorial...part of an incert from someone else's method in that...if I remember correctly (which isn't always reliable). There should be more information on how to enter without the HI. I know that's possible.
