so i've drifted on these forums for a bit, and just decided to post because i had a somewhat irritating experience. First i will give some back ground. I have had 4 lucid dreams now, mostly dream induced, but i always wake up very quickly. In my first two i woke up immediately, probably because i was too excited about actually having a lucid dream, but the 3rd one i woke up quickly as well even though i was pretty immersed in the dream.

Then today, i had my first WILD, pretty much by accident. I had not actually read how to do a WILD but i have been trying to wake up earlier and then go back to sleep just to help some with dream recall. Today when i was gong back to sleep, it was taking a long time, and i kind of reached the point right between awake and asleep and was hearing music. I realized that i must be almost dreaming, because no music was playing in real life. Of course, i got too excited about the idea of entering a dream while lucid and woke up. But i decided not to move and just see what happened. Eventually the music came back and i tried to just listen to it, but not pay too much attention to it, if that makes sense. To cut this short, i did slip into a dream, but it kept fading in and out. I would be driving a car, but then my vision would leave and i would only hear the music again and then a different dream scene would come on. When it finally settled on one dream scene it was still unstable and vision would dim or fade sporadically. I tried rubbing my hands (which almost seemed to make it more unstable), spinning(which seemed to have no effect either way) and rolling around on the ground with my dog (which helped but not much). The dream itself ended up being very short and i spent probably half of it trying ways to make it stable. i even did a RC after i woke up to see if it was a false awakening but i was dissapointed.

So i have a few questions. Is this typical of WILDs? Do they tend to be more unstable? and are there any other things i can do to make a dream more stable?
