Guinevere, I can suggest a couple of things. First thing is mind over matter - You know the the hallucinations are a construct of your mind, so if you can get yourself relaxed and try your hardest to keep that in mind, the hallucinations might not seem so malevolent. Number two: As they are hallucinations, your mood, mental state and thoughts can change and intensify what you are experiencing. For example, if you allow yourself to become very scared while in sleep paralasis and you are hallucinating, chances are the visions or sounds will become more intense and scarier.
On to your other point - You actually might be able to use snoring when you are trying to WILD to your advantage, like some people leave a fan or the television on when they WILD to try and keep them more aware. Otherwise, they're just an ass for not admitting they snore and trying to do something about it .
