Well, I'm officially getting over my fear of sleep paralysis

I mean, kinda hard not to as I slipped into it 6 - 7 times last night.

I went to bed earlier then usual last night because my mental illness makes me tired all the time. I was laying there, waiting to fall asleep when my body went heavy. I immediately panicked a bit. I thought "Oh no, it's happening again." and then a little voice inside me piped in with "It's ok" and I thought back "No, it's not."

      "Yes, it is."

      "No, it's n-"

      "JUST TRY IT"

So then I decided to actually try it, and decided that really being IN it, wasn't that bad.
My body felt weird, and I couldn't control my breathing and it was shallower which kind of freaked me out, but I got used to it quickly.

Now, I don't remember in what order they happened but I had one dream, two, really destabilized false awakenings, and two weird/ scary hallucinations all in the space of an hour or so.

I was laying there, and decided to try to roll out of bed and into a dream, but this only caused me to wake up. This happened a couple more times I think.

For the hallucinations, I heard my Dad and a girl talking over my bed, my Dad said "Ok, get your finger out" and she said "Ok" and my first thought was "No, no, this isn't cool" then "They're hallucinations, they can't hurt you"

      "Oh right."

For the second one, I was laying there in SP when I decided to open my eyes and see what weird things I could see. I did and I saw my ceiling being tore away in tiles off into space, accompanied by some Silent Hill type moaning. I immediately shut my eyes to try and block it out but the moaning continued so I figured if it was going to happen anyway, I might as well see it, or it'd be worse. Well, my body felt like it turned directions to where my feet were hanging off the side. Plus, I couldn't see below me very well in my line of vision. It felt like I was being wheeled somewhere by something. I looked and three pale red demons were wheeling me. One of them said my name, and that it was synonymous with something but I don't remember what. All three were talking about me in some way. They stopped and kept talking. I wasn't that scared while this was happening for some reason. I remember thought speaking to them where I knew they could hear me and saying things like "You guys suck as hallucinations" or "yeah, yeah" I don't remember why I did it, but one of the demons said something, and I leaped up and slashed it's face with my fingernails that were sharp in the dream.

For the false awakenings. I basically got up, thought I was awake and went to the bathroom. I turned back and was worried I was still going to see some more hallucinations since I just got up, and when I thought that, the ceiling started to fly away again followed by that same moaning. I realized I was dreaming and tried running to the living room to go outside, but everything was like I was in a massive earthquake, and I couldn't barely run straight. I made it to the front door, but it ended. The second one was the same minus the ceiling part.

All through this, after almost each one, I'd get up, go to the bathroom, get back in bed, and expect it to happen again, not really worried about it. I tried visualizing the type of dream I wanted a few times while it was going on, and "saw it" not as a dream, or hallucination but like a thought but more real, but it didn't stay.

Now, I have a question also: How exactly do you roll out again? It's always worked for me before, but it didn't work right this time. I either just woke up or went into a FA.

Anyway, just wanted to share that.

Wow those are some heavy experiences there, awesome that you're coping with those though.

I haven't tried to open my eyes and see hallucinations yet during SP, but those that you described sounded freaky (especially the moaning).

I have been experimenting with SP recently and found that the only uncomfortable feeling is the heavy pressure on my chest which makes breathing quite more difficult, I'm like breathing in short gasps, and this focuses my attention "externally" to my body rather than to trying to fall asleep.

How can you pass through SP and start dreaming?
Just stay calm, dont move, and "OMG IM DREAMING"?

      Thats it?

When in sleep paralysis, keep your mind active and imagining yourself slipping into a dream and becoming lucid.

Once in full sleep paralysis, the in-between state usually only lasts a few minutes or less.

Hey Kanano. I also have had sleep paralysis that is intense as well. I have also learned defense techniques...though recently I've begun considering more intense measures because I am beginning to wonder if it could be a sort of dark possession. The problem is that I am not a devout Christian, and so would this require some intense form of belief in God? I don't know....

My defense works when I am in the paralyzed state I have tried many techniques, when I hit it I can feel it physically. I can feel the entire dream physically and the attacks. When you are in this state, your psychological mind has the most power so you can visualize many techniques that will destroy it. But at the base, I think what causes it is confusing...it seems mysterious of the cause. A few people have been praying for me and it has helped a lot. Perhaps you should consider trying forms of prayers from what you believe.

The point of demons is to degrade you, don't let them have ANY power.

SP can be pretty intense but it doesn't necessarily mean demons (though I have read about that before). God willingly answers anyone, so that is a reassurance for you anytime you're going through something difficult like that, though to be given something, expect to give a little back.

      Kanano FTW

It's exactly because of this type of stuff that I'm into LDing.
