From what i know and personally experienced, here are my thoughts, first on deild. For deild, i don't think although i may be wrong but i don't think that you need a certain amount of hours to sleep, because you're just reentering a dream, either the same dream or a dream that you created from visualizing. But i hear for wilds, you can actually do wilds at two different times. You can do wilds during a nap without before sleeping, but if you want to sleep first and then do a wild then, they say that you should sleep any where from 4 to 6 hours, at least 4 hours, you'd have the most success with wilds if you're tired from what i hear from all the wild tutorals. I think that deilds are easier than wilds but it may be different for other people, i've had more deilds than wilds. I don't prefer one over the other because i think they are both fun, maybe someone with more knowledge than i have can give you a better answer than i did.

From what I know, you can't wake up via alarm when attempting to DEILD. Unless the alarm automatically turns off by itself. When you DEILD, you have to re-enter a dream. Hence that you have to wake up after a dream.
