I have ADHD and find it difficult to focus will trying to attain SP, is it necessary to be focused on your breathing or such and if so is there any meathods that may be a little more feasible for me ? |

In my opinion ADHD and ADD are bs. Those "disorders" are diagnosed to pretty much any kid who takes the test or displays hyperactivity these days. I supposedly have ADD.. really it's just laziness and impatience. It's likely due to the way I was brought up... Watching hours and hours of T.V. You should consider meditation. |

The fact that you refer to it as ADD still means that you probably have yet to see the new research that has been done on it, it is now know as ADHD-H (hyperactive) ADHD-I (inattentive) and ADHD-C (combined), I am ADHD-I. Other new data also shows that it is in part caused by a malformation in the brain that limits the amount of dopamine which is a neurotransmitter from being produced which causes an inability to properly focus, hence the reasoning for it being treated with amphetamines since they stimulate the release of dopamine. if you still believe it is a sham that is fine but it still doesn't change the fact that i do have extreme difficulty focusing and would appreciate some advice on the subject. As a side note I do try and meditate every so often since i do find it helps my focus a bit. |

As a slightly humorous side note when i did take the test for ADHD I answered the first question (do you have trouble focusing on tasks) then forgot about it, found it on top of the fridge about 2 months later and was generally confused about how it got there |

Haha fair enough. I've never met someone with ADHD or ADD who was as well spoken and educated as you. I must admit I haven't done research into the subject and was speaking from experience only. |

Yeah I tried the breath counting aswell but always end up getting distracted, I have had slightly better success with just focusing on my breathing to the point that I got conscious REM and have on occasion actually reached SP but always seem to fall out of it usually due to focus loss. As for the ADHD, there are alot of falsely reported cases which is why there is so little creditability in it being a real disorder, so i really don't blame people for thinking its a sham and just try and educate them myself so they know it is real for some. |

Yeah that makes sense. Thanks for educating me on the matter. I honestly thought ADHD had no scientific backing. Again lack of proper research. |

I'll try the DEILD, it may work a bit better. I usually can't even get back to sleep if I try the WBTB WILD, I tend to get distracted by thought and then insomnia hits in which kinda sucks. Have no problems with the not moving part. I'll take a look at that post, i believe i may have already scanned through it, but if i may help me out i'll give it a more solid read through. |

Toxicfish I had ADD/ADHD to when I was younger and unfortunately they put me on Ritalin ( which actually BLOCKS reuptake of dopamine ), and had me doped. I wasn't on it for years though, just a couple of weeks or months I think. |
