Been Trying Lucid Dreaming for about a month, no success

I've been trying to have a lucid dream for about a month without success. I've tried what seems to be every technique under the sun. Should I just stick with one until it works or what?
This is the date of my first lucid: 3/6/2010
It took WAY TOO LONG - but was completely worth it.

Tell me all the techniques you have tried, and I'll suggest more.

yeah it took me forever. It's obviously not the easiest thing to do, because there are a lot of frustration threads here. U just have to remember that everyone has the ability to lucid dream, no matter how much you think you can't do it. a thread that really helped me was billybob's thread on "how to lucid dream" (yeah pretty general)

u should check it out if you haven't already. it's loaded with good info and a lucid dream schedule to help you

Get a magic marker and write RC on your wrist. Every time that you see it, do a reality check. You will end up doing them like a madman and this should induce a lucid dream.

Lots of people take several months to get their first, just keep with it, because it's very worth it.

You may be trying too hard to achieve a lucid dream. I don't believe its easy to become lucid when you are frustrated about not getting lucid. Don't try the next few days, this could help you get a lucid dream. Also, if you expect to have an ld, you will, at least that worked for me on my fourth day.

You could also take a cold shower at 5 am or so, but I don't know how desperate you are.

      Good luck.

      Hey there,

Don't try every technique under the sun. Try YOUR technique. No one, absolutely no one, uses the exact same technique. Even if someone finds a technique that works for them, they still have to tweak it, fine-tune it, adapt it to their particular way of sleeping and dreaming.

What you need to do is both very simple and very hard. You need to find out what works for you. Don't simply copy-paste (in a manner of speaking) what people put forth here. Use their ideas, yes, but experiment with them, change it a bit as needed. Use trial and error, and learn to understand how it all ticks for you.

      Good luck!

You should be trying one technique at a time, and you should be trying each for at least a month, if not longer. Really, the best thing to do is to start with whatever makes the most sense to you and then try simple variations to test what gives the best improvement.

Then stop looking under the sun! Go get a flashlight if you have to! The sun isn't very reliable. Although I've heard some good reviews about the moon...

lol that was random. Just keep trying at what technique works the best. I suggest WBTB, or with a bit of dream recall and RC's you can do DILD. Don't forget that everyone is different. Some people had LD's the first night since they've learned about it, some have it every 5 days or so, some only have one every few months. Just keep trying.
      good luck!

      dream recall

I realized how often I became lucid but, didn't remember because of recall power. Try the wbtb technique it seems to work for everyone I've talked to.
if you REALLY wanna become lucid

every 90 mins have an alarm set.
wake up and recall your dreams on paper.
after a week of that if you make no progress I dunno what to say.
BUT, if you do make progress then start your RCing daily 10-15x a day.
After 2 weeks of these combined then start with the wbtb technique. You can start it earlier I just am trying to give you a good time frame to start. I have used a few friends on figuring these out.
I still am no pro. Altho I'm a very strong lucid dreamer and can do many things once I catch myself. Via dilds. I don't seem to have the ability to Wild.. :-(

I have a very good dream recall before I knew this forum back then.
I tried LD so hard, but it comes to noting!
My dream always an ordinary dream.
until 4th week I start not to focus on it (I want to give up that time). But that time I have my first LD! So don't frustate about it. Just let it flow..
      The keys are:
      1. Relax
      2. You Believe in LD
      3. You WANT LD
      4. .. You Have LD...

      my opinion tough...
