How to induce a lucid dream while awake

I did a google search on another topic but i came across this one. I went to a website and one method that had was about visualization. Actively involving your mind in a specific visualization, provides your mind with ready made scenery for your dream. Repeat the i am dreaming affirmation as you explore your scene, and eventually that visualization may transition into a dream. I've tried this before i ready about this from that particular sight, but i didn't do the affirmation part. I thought about the person i wanted to dream about, all three times that i've tried it as hard as i could, i dreamed about the person. Has anybody tried this technique that i'm talking about? About visualization your dream scene? And if so, did it work and how did you do it?

Search this site for any WILD techniques, WILD stands for Wake Initiated Lucid Dream, and is exactly what you are looking for.

WILD is a technique you can use during the night to go straight from a waking state into a dream.

There's also VILD, which is a Visually Incubated LD. It sounds like what you're talking about where you sort of prepare a dream ahead of time through visualization. Take a look at that as well.

While you're at it, check out Dream Re-entry. You can use that when you wake up from a dream and through laying still and visualization, you can effectively re-enter the dream where you left off. I've had a few of those dreams.

I'm glad you pointed out that dream incubation can work for things other than lucidity. If you figure out how to drill and idea into your subconscious, you can incubate all kinds of crazy dreams. From my experience, it never turns out like I would have imagined it. I'm always surprising myself.
