Was this astral projection or a lucid dream?

Can someone please help me?! Last night I "woke up" on my ceiling. I was holding onto my lamp. I realized this as a sign of astral projection but I never technically looked down to see if my body was on my bed. I became really frightened, and found myself laying in my bed. I tried to astral project and felt my feet moving upwards. I also heard a high pitched noise as I was doing so. I felt trapped under my blankets though and lost consciousness.

I have had quite a few lucid dreams so I'm not exactly "afraid" of them as I felt this time. I never technically saw my body- so was this astral projection or a lucid dream?

      Any help is appreciated!!

It's possible you were close to a Astral Projection. Lucid dreaming is one way to reach the level of astral projection. I've heard of people doing it this way.

this happened to me!! i had these weird sensations and ended up hovering over my bed for some time. I've had lucids before and this did not feel like i was dreaming. I felt scared at one point and trapped under my blankets at one point too. I never thought it might be astral projection until just today when i had sort of a similar experience, hence why im here because i've never astral projected and this is very new and exciting. i have no good answers for you because i'm new to it also, but i thought you'd like to know your not the only one. good luck, hope it happens again!

Closing thread, as it is 5 years old.

A lucid dream is a dream in which you know you are dreaming. You can be having a dream that doesn't feel like it's a dream (we have them every night), but being able to see yourself (or "your body") doesn't mean you are on another plane, seeing your actual body. Most likely, you are simply seeing your 'dream body', which is manifested by your mind, just like every 'other person's body' we see in all of our other dreams.

      Just my personal opinion, though...
