      The murder of strangers.

I was just an observer in this dream and didnt have any part of it. I also dont recongise any of the characters in this dream)

A women and her friend were planning to go out for the day and asked her brother to look after her son (4, 5 year old). He agreed, and as soon as they were gone he murdered the son (i didnt witness the murder but i could sence his pleasure in having murdered the son)

The brother was holding a bag that belonged to the son and went for a walk down the street, the women and her friend where in the car stopped at a traffic light and saw him, they asked what he was doing out and he said that her son was asleep so he decided to go out for a coffee.. She offered to give him a lift back to the house and he agreed, before he got in the back seat of the car he smiled and dropped the sons bag on the footpath and closed the door.

when they got back to the house, the door was left opened and the house was trashed, he had made it look like someone had broken into the house and killed the son while he was out. The women accepted that this is what happened to her son and she was heart broken.

A few days later he was helping her get through the grieving, she decided that she wanted to move the walls to rearrange the setting of the house, this wall was dividing the bathroom and the kitchen, she got in the bathroom ready to move the wall but he refused and said she should come sit down. He said this because this is where he killed her son and the bathroom floor was flooded with blood. He left the room hoping that she would give up, But she didnt. She pushed the walls of the bathroom moving it towards the kitchen and saw that there was blood underneath all the walls, she pushed the other side of the wall and saw more, she realised that her brother had killed her son.

Thats all i remember of the dream, if anyone has any ideas on how to interpret this dream please do so

Hi. Can you say more about how you felt about any of the events in the dream?

Well I was somewhat detatched from the dream, just observing what was happening..
But i felt what the characters in my dream were feeling..
The brother was pleased through the whole dream, only at the end getting nervous when his sister discovered what was happening
The sister first felt devotion to her brother and love for her son, then emptyness and anger
Through the dream i didnt actually see the son so i didnt have a glimps of his feelings
But when waking up i had a disturbed feeling that carried on throughout the day..

Thanks. Normally a "movie dream", where we're detached, implies that we're watching life pass us by. And the way we're empathising with the characters gives us clues about our self.

The sister seems to be some kind of motherly character, loyal and devoted until events put an end to that. Sounds like a fairly stereotypical character as portrayed in the media or in movies.

The brother seems to lead a dual life, a trusted brother and yet a psychopath. Again, something familiar about the character from our popular culture.

Interesting that they're brother and sister, kind of making sure that nothing sexual was likely to be going on.

A house, so it if often claimed, can be a metaphor for our self. So pushing walls would suggest to me some kind of looking beyond what we would normally see about our self. Taking this further, was the "sister" part of you shocked by what she discovered about the "brother" part of you? Be assured, I'm not suggesting you're a psychopath!!! But I think we harbour fantasies about who we might be, and whilst contemplating murder may be too much for many of us, that doesn't stop our dreams (which don't have these defenses) going there, albeit in a detached way in your case.

You say you felt disturbed after the dream. Could this be that you feel you might be capable of murder like that and perhaps guilty that you have already done it (if only in dream)?

Or perhaps it was the blood under the floor which disturbed you. Could this perhaps touch your own experiences of blood? It has just occured to me that there could be an alternative, biological, explanation here.

I'm also intrigued about the brother/sister thing. Wondering if the disturbed feeling is connected to their (implied incestuous?) relationship somehow, or perhaps the brother's jealousy of her?

      Does any of that resonnate?

Well yes, its kind of hard to go in detail about my feelings in the last few parts of the dream.. i either woke up straight after she realised it was her brother or i just dont recall the rest..
but what i did get was..at first an intuitive sense that something was not right.. and even a bit of unstableness as if she had been drunk? and she had the change the walls no matter what her brother said.. then when she saw the blood it was like an instant realisation of what happened and with that shock..

You say you felt disturbed after the dream. Could this be that you feel you might be capable of murder like that and perhaps guilty that you have already done it (if only in dream)?
No guilt wasnt the source of my disturbance.. Im pretty use to dreams like this that involve either watching a murder or being murdered.. I havent actually recalled a peaceful dream in the last 6 or so months.. So its not like it was a new kind of thing to be seeing in my dreams and i dont really get that much effected by my other nightmares.. And again i was detached from this dream so i didnt feel any guilt, i could tell between the feelings of the brother, the sister and myself

I felt disturbed because it was like i had just witnessed a murder, i felt loss for the sister and through the dream i felt sad for her and confusion towards the brother.. it was just as if i was watching the news and just heard that a uncle had murdered his nephew.. Also just feeling how the brother was so smug about the murder and how he had done it even tho the sister had trusted him is upseting.

Or perhaps it was the blood under the floor which disturbed you. Could this perhaps touch your own experiences of blood?
Well i do have a mild phobia of needles, so in that bloodtests

Wondering if the disturbed feeling is connected to their (implied incestuous?) relationship somehow, or perhaps the brother's jealousy of her?
No and No.. the disturbed feeling was based more on the fact that he had no reason to murder the son.. Not known to her or him.. he did it just because he could.

Thanks for helping by the way i had no idea how to interpret this one..

Hi H. It's the feeling of being disturbed that's staying in my mind. Another thought has occurred to me as I've been pondering this. Could this be a dream about growing up somehow? The child is murdered - maybe you are silencing your own "inner child" (or at least the male part of it) and projecting that act of suppression on to the brother, to the shock of the sister? The blood may be connected with growing up too, which is why I raised the subject of what blood might mean earlier.

OK, I'm running out of ideas! As you can tell I tend to work with feelings and what might arise from the unconscious. The actual meaning is likely to be personal to you and you only and the best another person can do (other than through a degree of luck, which I don't seem to be getting) is to engage with the dream and offer their own reactions.
