Hello world! Happy dreams. the smurfs got me into this.

      hello all.

Glad I found this forum. I am really interested in getting back to having lucid dreams. I suppose I am doing this backwards in that I used to have them all the time when I was a kid. I remember when it all started. it started with a smurf episode if you can believe it.

I was young enough to be watching smurfs but old enough to understand the meaning of the episode and what I would be able to do. See when I was a child I was watching this smurf episode. I don't remember all of the story line but I do remember that the strong smurf was fighting a monster of some kind in a dream world and loosing. In the middle of the fight someone told him this is his dream and that he could control his dreams. He then became powerful and defeated the monster.

I remember being fascinated by that thought. Image if you could control your dreams and go on adventures and fly! All while sleeping. I don't remember how long it took me but I don't think it took that long to gain control of my dreams and it happened often enough to keep me interested till my late teens. I think I was able to control the dreams about 80% of the time. I had great adventures and fun. In my early 20 I don't know what happened but it faded. I also believe I may have had instances of OOB and potentially my 3rd eye opening but I would need to check with some one that knows about that.

The only reason I mention the 3rd eye is I have had at least 2 times where I was taking a nap and I could see. Both happened with me laying on my arms or backpack on a table and napping. I remember suddenly being completely awake and aware of everything however I do know that my body was asleep. Also I could see everything in front of my face and look around like I was using my eyes however I could feel my eyes were closed.

On the OOB issue. I have had some extremely vivid dreams that were a bit distressing. One that I had several times was that I was floating in space with the earth hanging in front of me. I remember being very scared because it was so huge and I was outside of it. Like I was out side of a safe cradle. I usually fixed this vision by turning around and willing myself to fall back to earth. As I was falling I remember thinking that I should be burning up from the drag of the oxygen but I wasn't. I remember as I was falling being surrounded by a great warmth and a feeling of home and safety. Then the dream ends. I am always aware that I am dreaming and that it has happened before.

anyway I hope to get back into this. I have had some instances of being aware that I was dreaming however I was still caught up in the storyline of my dream and didnt really take control. Also I have had no luck in forcing specific story line or dream like I could before.

Hello. thanks for the greet. Its sad I have so much experience however it seems I can't get anything to work really. It is really interesting reading about some of the procedures people use and talk about. I remember figuring out and doing the same things to have lucid dreams as a child. Although I didn't have terms for them. I just seam to be having a block or something that isn't letting me do it. I can at least report I had a small success last night setting up the type of dream. before going to bed I concentrated on the build of a house and what I would like it to look like. I then had a dream about viewing a house to buy and debating the good and bad of it with my mom. I think I even remember most of the dream. So some progress. I wasn't able to control the dream though or even realized it was a dream.

Don't worry too much. I am sure that with a bit of practice you'll be able to get there!

Keep at it and never give up!!

      Hello Man!
I have a pretty simple way to take control of your dreams to begin and train from there. Just listen to rainy music or water music before going to sleep, it will help your brain to create a sea or a river or whatever with water in it. You will probably fall into it or just force yourself to go in then drown yourself. Most of the time for me it's because i'm trapped under the ice or attacked by some monsters under water, just create your own story or find an ancient dream you remember with this type of expenrience, it's easier for your brain to recreate the dream if you think of it before going to sleep. Then force yourself to breathe under water, just open your mouse a little tiny bit, breathe then you will see you can and you will stop suffocate then breathe deeper and deeper. Your brain will know you're in a dream and you will be able to control from there.
Keep me in touch if you can start to work your way from this!

Thanks for the suggestion Mara. I will try. I do know about the breathing under water bit although the way I use it is breathing through your noze under water. You certainly wouldn't want to get water in there In reallife because it hurts but dreams are ok. I don't know if water sounds work though.
