      Naturally Lucid Dreams

      Hi,

Ever since I can remember I have always had Lucid Dreams, all I knew was that they were cool and always in full color. I just did not know the term Lucid Dreams.

As I grew older they would come and go from time to time. Then 10 years ago they started coming back and very intense and sometimes disturbing, they just are not as cool as they were when I 16 and younger. I would not say they are nightmares. It got to a point I would quit sleeping as much because I did not want to dream any more. I started preoccupying myself so that I would only get a few hours of sleep. One thing led to another and I started self medicating with alcohol. Now that I am 36 I have decided that I am drinking way to much. I dont get drunk all the time, just enough to disrupt my sleep. Well it worked, but I cant keep drinking that much every night. So, I have cut the drinking out and the dreams are back, and crazier than ever. Just last night I was asleep but totally aware of every sound, every movement, and then all of a sudden this guy in a white t-shirt and blue jeans came running up the stairs and into my bedroom. At that point I really woke up. If these dreams were a little more relaxing I would enjoy them like I used to when I was younger. Any suggestions on where to start to either quit having them all together or change the intensity of them. I cant do this every night.

to DreamViews, Skewed. A lot of us here would like to have your "problem". But if it is disturbing to you, I can see why you want to do something about it. Hopefully learning more about lucid dreaming will help you be able to take control.

I know that's not very specific, but please look around, read the tutorials and anything else that you can about lucid dreaming (Have you read Stephen LeBarge's "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming?--excellent book). If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

I think with some control (by which I mean the ability to control the dream), you will begin to enjoy the dreams.

I will say, on a good night I just lay there. Nothing happens but I lay there all night, I am even aware of what time it is, I hear the crickets, AC/heater kicking on, the house popping, etc. For the most part I feel fairly well rested, but just a bit tired but functional and feeling pretty good. The best way to describe it is when you are at that point of sleep where you are just 'dozing off' but I stay that way the whole night. Again, thats a good night.

Hmmm. It sounds like you are a really light sleeper, to the point of it being a real problem for you. I don't know what would cause that. Maybe someone else here has some thoughts; I'm just drawing a blank right now.

What is a bad night like?

Historically speaking, I am not a very light sleeper at all. I can actually sleep through anything.

A bad night would be when I keep waking up due to the dreams. Its like something is going on that I dont particularly like and I wake up. Sometimes, they can be so intense that it takes me a few seconds to realize where I am. I have even had the same dream for a week straight, kinda like a mini-series and it just continued where it left off the night before. Once there would be this red pickup truck chasing me, every night. Its crazy stuff like that.

I think a main problem may be your anxiety, Skewed. It takes a lot to get over the fear of nightmares (believe me, I know), but you should try to lessen your anxiety of them. Everyone has nightmares at some time or another, but anticipating them or fearing them, before they happen, is just most likely to cause them.

I think that now, with your having just joined Dream Views, is a really good time for you to try to take another perspective on these nightmares. Exploring your dream state should be considered an adventure. Of course, you are going to have experiences that aren't going to always be pleasant, but you are also going to have some of the most amazing experiences you've ever had. Fearing the nightmares, and depriving yourself of sleep so that they don't come, is doing nothing good for you.

Start writing down your experiences. Start up your dream journal and go into all of this with the frame of mind that you're here to explore your mind, come what may. I've had some really horrible experiences before, wants I became an oneironaut (my journal is full of them) but I've figured them all to be worth it, because of the incredible experiences that I've had. It's all part of the discovery process.

I am not that experienced as oneironaut and maybe what i will tell will not have as much significance. But still. I love my nightmares. They tell me something about what I have blockated in the past. I have made habit from studying them. Its lot of fun sometimes, but sometimes it can become pretty crazy.

Try this perspective. Not as deep in past. People here told me. Just relax and use everything bad in your advantage. But dont be too drastic. If you are. You will only cause your brain to counterattack. Be one with your subconscious. Be correct and calm to yourself. Becouse you deserve it. Sometimes treat yourself like a child. Forgive yourself like your parents would. Its your world and you are the only one who can bring light within. So start doing it now. Explore the world of lucid dreaming becouse you want to find peace within yourself. And trust me. Your subconscious will reward you for each minute you give it in a dream overtime.

Love your inner self and it will start to love you.

      NO WAR PLEASE

      Have fun lucid dreamer.
