Alright guys I've had a rough week (I went to my college :p and I've had to plan my grad party and my future step dads party) So I'm sorry theres been lack of progress in here... I'm in contact with Naiya atm, and will hopefully get some deadlines instead of just diddlying around.

For the color of the book, I'm thinking some pictures (illustrations and such) should be done in black and white, but if you want to thrown in a full blown drawing, it should be done in color. I'm thinking maybe someone dreaming underneath a tree? Something people can connect with.

To your response, I think we should have the truth and all of it. Some people face their nightmares in their lucid dreams.. Lucid dreaming is not all pretty colors and butterflies, we dont want to soften it up. People need to know what is going to take place, and sometimes it is scary.

But most of the time it isn't. Dreams are based on expectations after all. If people get the idea that nightmarish stuff is going to happen when they turn lucid, they'll be less likely to do so, and even if they do, it's likely that it'll happen.

Great convo. guys. In my personal opinion, I think you both are right. I think the reader should be made aware that their expectations become their subjective lucid reality. That being said, the reader will see what s/he expects to see...be it fluffy bunnies or carnivorous vampire zombie bunnies. My point is, the reader will be fully briefed about what their expectations within the lucid dream will lead to. So as opposed to dictating what they will experience, our aim is to make the reader aware that their dream starts off as a blank canvas and they are holding the golden paintbrush.

Both kinds of illustrations could be used really. Scott Stapp (from Creed) conquered a reoccurring nightmare by learning the art of lucid dreaming for example. So going back to what I said earlier, you both are correct.

Our goal is to educate and entice, not delude and/or frighten. We want the reader to understand both extreme sides of the spectrum when it comes to what can be experienced in a lucid dream, while at the same time making them fully aware that what they experience is a direct result of what they are consciously and/or unconsciously creating.

Since you are both talking about the theme of "expectations change your dreams, for better or for worse, but once you're aware of this you can have them be what you want" I think you ought to make up one of these:

Make it something scary, AND something beautiful. It's up to the reader to decide. Once they've overcome this initial obstacle they're forming the necessary mindframe to dominate their dreams. Once they've learned to switch back and forth, they realize it's all a matter of perception.

      Exclamation Change in Department Leaders

I'm sorry to say that I am going to have to resign from leader of the Graphics Department of the book. My real life is becoming way too hectic (what with my first year of college coming up and such) for me to put some real effort into the book. I am making Adrift leader of the Graphics Department in hopes that he can do a better job that I can. I hope to remain part of the team and will become a part-time worker in the Graphic Arts department and am still open to suggestions and critics.

      Good Luck,

There are a number of things you need to take into consideration when creating a book cover.
One of them is copyright. You CANNOT use any images you have found online. Unless you have permission for the owners of the image or you have taken it yourself.

I think we should all have a stab at the cover, and then get the community to vote for their favourite. Makes them think they are involved with the process.

I just had an idea as to what may be added to the book.

A sort of psychological test type of game alike "the odd one out"
A way to train analytical/critical awareness.

Imagine a series of 5 pictures, one of them being a Dream Scene.
      Like this:
      - A picture of a downtown street with cars and pedestrians.
      - A picture of a public park with some trees floating in mid-air.
      - A picture of a car parking lot next to a wallmart.
      - A picture of a bear plundering a beeshive in the forrest.
      - A picture of a submarine near the bottom of the ocean.

Obviously a public park in which trees are floating in mid-air is a dead giveaway for being a Dream Scene. But it's okay to start easy.
      As the series of images progress, they could become more difficult to distinguish;
The absurdity of the DreamScene could be reduced and the Dreamsigns could become more and more subtile and hard to notice as the series of images progress.

That could lead to a series of images like this:
      - A picture of a drunk homeless man with a bottle of whiskey sitting on the street.
      - A picture of a ladybug on a bright yellow flowerpetal
      - A picture of a man fishing from a boat in a lake
      - A picture of a woman doing Yoga amidst a street full of busy, stressy people
      - A picture of a Seagull chasing after an Eagle

The last one is still obviously the dreamscene. But dreamsigns could be infinitely more subtile.
Doing these tests regulairly might help you more easily recognise the Dream state.
      Just my little contribution.

      PS:
I'd love to draw illustrations and diagrams for this book so let me know if I can be of any graphical assistance to the book. I'd be glad to help.
