      How do you keep your mind "blank" during WILD?

      Hello again guys,

      everytime I try wild, I have a really hard time keeping my mind calm and not thinking about anything. I usually start thinking too hard on random things, or life problems, work etc. How do you guys keep your mind from doing that, and maintaining a blank state? This is really becoming a problem because during WILD I want to be aware, but if I'm aware I think too much about random stuff.

      Thats exactly what you're looking for. When you think of random stuff don't go too deep or else you might fall asleep. Thats why anchors are used anyways. If you have anything to think then just be a judge passively observing the thoughts. And once you get to state where you think of illogical thoughts, Pull yourself back by using the anchor. Even I have this problem, just observe whats going on behind your eyelids. It really keeps you distracted from your thoughts.

      When you WILD you don't have to put all your awareness on one thing, that is what you will learn eventually though.

      But what you should instead focus on is to not put your primary awareness on life problems and thoughts etc.

      If your anchor is to count for example, then everytime you think about something else like "dancing bananas" just acknowledge the fact that you now longer is focusing on your anchor and well don't judge yourself and think "Ah come man I shouldn't think about this, ok now I did something wrong " Instead just calmly return to the anchor.

      When you first start your practise it will go like this:

      Ok what should I do again right right count. 100, 99, 98 oh I wonder what I am going to do tomorrow (oh stray thought back to counting) where was I? 99 98 97 96 95 yeeaaaaah sexy lady op op op, wtf am I thinking about?! oh right back to counting, 94 93 92 91 90 89 88 87 86 85.......!! woppsie seems like I almost lost awareness there I need to think with more focus ehm counting right 90 98 88 87 86 no wait I already counted these numbers .. nevermind back to counting! 85 84 83 82 81 80 79 78 77 76 75 74 73 -> 43 42 oh I am starting get the hang of this <<--- Drat! I thought again a nevermind 41 40...

      And so on. Your mind WILL wander there is nothing to do about that, just don't judge it and just keep practising. If you think counting is boring, don't worry there are many anchor I just used this in the example to make it a little more clear. After some practise it will be like this for you.

      100 99 ok let' do this ops .. 98 97 -> 70 69 68 my toe is itching.. nevermind it stopped or right! 67 -> 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 .....

      Silence, peace, tranquility until .. Where the h*ll am I? Oh right it's a dream!

      (There are of course better transitions than to just wait, but it was just to finish the anchor example)

      So it's all about not judging yourself, just keep practising and practise makes perfect.

      Very good examples, MasterMind. Here are my considerations:

      - The first anchor I used was counting. But I used to focus so much on counting, that I always ended up too awake. And that's the problem with WILD I think, I always focus on it too hard, and my body never sleeps. I stay there for half an hour, with no SP or HI whatsoever, just to eventually open my eyes and find out I never slept.

      - Then I tried another anchor, it was to focus my attention on white noise, in my case, the fan noise. It did better to me, since not too much attention is required, I had a little more success and slightly felt WILD sensations. Last night I felt I was like flying at a high speed, but just for a second. Whenever I reach that point (which is what I should do) I get startled, and never am able to get back to that point again.

      - why is not a mantra the perfect anchor? It helps keeping awareness as well as gives the mind an objective. Why nobody uses it as an anchor?

      - Also, I think the position I try to WILD is critical. Should I try it in the position I have the easiest time getting to sleep, or the hardest time? From my experience, whenever I tried to WILD laying in my stomach (this is how I usually sleep) I ended up just straight up sleeping. The only and very little success I had was lying on my back, beer belly up. How do you usually do it?

      Don't inhibit thoughts, on the contrary let them flow, it's part of falling asleep. Stopping them will get you nowhere.

      I use a mantra when I meditate. Read my dream journal description for an explanation to why.
      I didn't explain it in my previous post because well, it would be a very long post ...

      And for the posture, yeah I have been thinknig about this as well, but my advice is to do it in a sitting posture to make sure that you don't get to relaxed, atleast when you are just practising meditation. When you WILD though you should do it in a comfortable posture but with the meditation practised you should be able to stay aware.

      And remember sleep is unconscious meditation, meditation is conscious sleep.

      If my head is full of thoughts, I just let them play out, untill getting more sleepy. That's when I start to WILD by recalling a previous dream. It doesn't matter which one, the goal is to engage part of the brain that deals with dreams. This should help and should start seeing some dreams or scenarios evolving and your inner chatter getting more quiet.

      What I do is think: "One, I'm dreaming... two, I'm dreaming... three, I'm dreaming... etc. It keeps your mind focused on one thing without focusing on one thing.


      Progress: DILD: 100+, WILD: 1/2, WBTB WILD: 2

      Goals: Achieve WILD, Be able to induce a WILD on command.

      Wow that chicks hot, anyways i suggest not keeping ur mind blank but visualizing what u wanna dream about and forgetting ur real body until u are in a drwam ull get it just takes time the more times u try the more ull learn what works.

      If you notice you're letting your thoughts go off track a lot, you can use this as an advantage. Let your brain do its thing. Get as close to falling asleep as possible, but maintain consciousness. Check out Jeff777's Free-falling WILD technique.
