Woa woa woa, you applied an effect that made it look like old film, and then there's aliasing, moire patterns and high tech/special fx? I don't think so!

I was trying more for a vintage look than a old film look, its just the quality made it look bad as hell

With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I'm sure you are aware that the bullet holes, fake plates and whatnot do not stay in one place but sort of hover around where you placed them. The initial explosion was pretty convincing for what it was, but then the guy comes around the corner and a pristine car is still sitting there (previous bullet holes gone even) The cuts between shots should have been instant, instead of cutting to 3+ seconds of black. The scene was short enough that you should have found music that fit for the whole thing, instead of cutting back and forth to random snippets of different songs for different shots.

I'm curious, where was that filmed? I ask because it looked like every suburb in America but you're car's wheel is on the other side. Is it just imported or are you in another country?

      Hahaha Xaqaria thanks for reply
Well, 2 weeks ago, i decided i should upload another video to youtube because the last time i uploaded one was like 3-4 years ago and that video made it quite decent, i reached like 140,000 views.

So being inspired, i was a complete novice/beginner, i decided to get my brothers camera and think of an action scene. I got also inspired by "Freddiew" on youtube.
I know the effects aren't very convincing and stuff, i pretty much edited it all in one week from scratch using a program called Adobe After Effects CS5.
I'm actually located in Australia, in the city of Melbourne XD.
Cars in Australia have the drivers side on the right (i know weird haha).

After doing the edits and observing other professional SFX scenes on youtube, I noticed that had i filmed with a tripod, the effects would have been much more realistic, since the camera kept moving from side to side (which i'm sure you would have noticed), i had to keyframe each and every individual frame, so hence the slight hovering!

LOL about the pristine car!! I showed my friends and they went LOL as well.
I tried my best to make it look like it got hit real bad, but the camera just keeps moving, and like I outlined earlier, when the camera moves, its far too hard for novices like me to keyframe it into position. Only if it was a still frame, as in the camera stays stationary, and people can move around in the frame, and then i could make it look tad more realistic.
Ohyea, and true about the shots in between, instead of the +3 second black, my brother mentioned that to me as well telling me that really frustrates the audience, and I did try to reduce it, but i should have made it like 0.1 second, or instantaneously as you mentioned!
Thanks for the feedback though dude!!

And as for music, I didn't have much to select from, but I did try my best, most of the music on youtube is blocked now caus of the copyright thingy.
But i'm glad its all over now lol, after 65 hours of editing and stuff over a duration of 1 week, my dreaming progression went down hill a bit and i got bit lazy
So now i'm back to focusing on reality checks and recalling again XD!!
Infact, just this morning, i had a dream that my video hit 10,000 views on day one, i was over the roof haha. Until reality set in
Again thanks for the reply Xaqaria

Wait, so since you didn't even bother to use motion tracking in AE CS5, why not use windows movie maker
srsly though, the whole concept was decent, you just should've spend some time on watching After Effects tutorials rather than observing other professional SFX scenes on youtube.
Since you used pretty much anything from video copilot, there's this video tutorial series called The Bullet which is a pretty good start for anyone, and video copilot has a bunch of pretty good videos on their website too.

lol what the fuck! I dont get what it is with this forum and everyone posting negative responses, another forum i went on everybody posted positive.
First and foremost, stop assuming shit. I actually did use motion tracking in AE CS5, but like i said, the camera kept moving, when the camera moves too much there isn't a "still object" to motion track properley, I tried and it just went retarded.
Also, most of my time was actually spent looking at the after effects tutorials from video copilot. I might not have a fast learning curve so im sorry?
Like i said, i spent only 1 week from knowing nothing and trying to learn bits and pieces.
I bet you've had experience with after effects for more than 1 week?
So.. Obviously your skills are much better than mine.

This was my first time man, give me a break. fuck sake

p.s. i used windows movie maker before, for my cwalk video and piano video. I didn't wanna be using it again, i dont like it.

yeah, I have to admit, when I first saw some topics on this sub forum (artists corner) I was really shocked to see that there's so much critique compared to other forums
      on-topic:
In your first post, you said:
"i had to keyframe each and every individual frame, so hence the slight hovering!"
And now you're claiming you did use motion tracking
The problem is not there there are no objects on the scene appropriate for motion tracking - because there are - but you're actually changing the angle of the camera relative to the object, and if that happens too much you have to use 3D motion tracking rather than normal motion tracking. I've done it once with Syntheyes and it actually looked pretty good, however you've got to have some Blender (or other 3D program) knowledge too. Visual effects is harder than anything - 2d graphics, 3d graphics, music composition etc - therefore this is already a pretty good start.
and yes, I do have some more experience with AE than 1 week.

Guys yous have to remember he's still learning about this stuff. He'll get better over time and learn from his mistakes.

I thought it was good But try and take on what other people are saying too.

I don't think much was mistook.

Enjoyable video, equally for the comments in this thread.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

Oh thanks man! I dind't know about the 3d one, i think I musta used the basic "motion tracking" whichever that may be, i think you say its the 2d one?
Yeah in my first post, i didn't say EVERYTHING i did lol, just said it briefly although it kinda looks long XD.
But again, thanks for the advice man. I guess i just got a little bit frustrated when i read your comment earlier because it was my first time and it seemed like everyone was just pounding on me, making me question if i should have even posted at all lol

If i do plan on making a new video, i'll be sure to make it better! But it is time consuming (sadface), least for me it is!
