So back in graaaddeee.. 12, yeah, I was in art and we had a project where we had to choose a Beatles song and turn it into a piece. I immediately chose I Am The Walrus because given the nonsensical lyrics, it'd be fun to fiddle with. Grade 12 was 2-3 years ago, so this is p old.
That's a dog at the bottom for those who are a little confused by the mess. I copied it from a head on shot of my old dog laying on his side.
ANYWAYS, I used a sheet of scrap wood as the canvas. Most of it was done with paint, the walrus flower is made of the lyrics I typed in different fonts, some of it is hand written, it's all been painted on, around, underneath, etc and decorated with India Ink mess. The walruses were originally photos I cut out from a NatGeo mag, which I then painted over and outlined. There's also gold spray paint everywhere and I think I topped it off with some kind of veneer or a gel/water mix, I forget.
So basically, media used:
- Wood
- Acrylic paint
- Spray paint
- India Ink (you dip calligraphy-type pens into it)
- Paper
- Gel/water mix (just remembered the flower was smothered in it to make the wrinkles stay in place)
I have some other big wood pieces from the same class, I'll see if I want to snap some pics of them too.
