Damn. Saw this earlier but completely forgot to respond.

I use VirtualDub (which you can get for free here) to cut the scenes out of the movie files, and Adobe ImageReady to resize them and turn them into animated .gifs.

Here are a couple more. I decided to try to make some .gifs to throw at people who either get pwned or fail miserably, when posting. Hahaha. They're nothing all too special, but the best I could crank out, so far.

      Fail:
      Hot Fuzz; Window Break

      Hot Fuzz; Model Church

      Pwned:
      Hot Fuzz; Dropkick

      Hot Fuzz; Bear Trap

      Kung Fu Hustle; Big Fist

      Buddhist Palm

A few more for the forum(s):

I don't really have too many more slapstick movies on my PC than Hot Fuzz and Kung Fu Hustle, so most of these are from action movies. There are still a few clips from Hot Fuzz that I've yet to make, though.

      Hot Fuzz - Fuck Yeah

      Spider-Man 2 -Fail - I'm Back!

Matrix - Fail - Dodge This

Matrix - Fail - Bullet Stop

      Matrix - Pwned - TrinFlip

Matrix - Fail - Shotgun Kick

Advent Children - Pwned - Omnislash

Kung Fu Hustle - Fail - Showoff

And yeah, Marvo. I use VirtualDub to cut the scenes into individual frames, and then import them to Adobe ImageReady, which actually lays them out on an animation-board, and lets you edit them and save them as a .gif.
      Sorry for the double post.
Where do you get the scenes from to put on virtualdub? I want to try making some. I already have virtualdub and adobe imageready on my computer.

Haha. Thanks. It doesn't take too long, depending on the clip. If it's not a long clip that bogs your PC down, they only take like 10-15 minutes.

No problem, on the double post. Most of the clips I have had come from full movies that I have on my PC. But, I started downloading youtube vids to cut clips out of, which is where I got the Spaceballs and these next DBZ vids from. I have a converter that changes .flv files to .avi files, so I can import them into VirtualDub and cut them, from there.

      Here are a couple more:

      Pwned - DBZ - Turles's Men

      Fail - DBZ - Piccolo/Turles

      Fail - Spider-Man 3 - Bomb

      Goku vs. Frieza

      Goku vs. Cell

Hey O! just curious, when you convert them to gifs, do you do any other modification - like frame dropping to bring the size down? You'd be suprized at how low a number of frames you can use and still get the same results. The human brain does more tweening between keyframes than you'd think.

Just a suggestion of something to try. Cuz I really like what you do - but the size of them kind of makes it inefficient. A Flash file with imported video footage would be smaller.

Yeah, I cut them all down by half (deleting every other frame), and then any more, as needed. It's what usually gets them to run at normal speed. There is an option in VirtualDub to cut them down by every 3 frames, though, also, so I might start doing that because, yeah, they get a little big.

I just (finally) upped my RAM to 512 (I may get another stick, by next week), so I'm going to start looking more into Flash, which I've never used before, now that I don't have to wait 5 years for my PC to complete the smallest tasks.

Ah yes, Flash - you'll know where to go for help on that, my friend

Of course, that's a totally different thing. Basically, you won't be doing much conversion or frame dropping. You'll simply import (or compress) the original footage into an FLV file and have that pulled into the Flash swf file. So much simpler.

That'd be a welcome change. I've been wanting to learn Flash for a little while, now. I just got Photoshop CS3 (I'd been using CS2) and it supports Flash, so I'm sure I'll be using that a lot more often.

Also, what are all of the programs you used to get the clips off of youtube and to convert them into .avi?

What do I name the file to put it in Pazera? I already downloaded it and it is called get_video.

When you begin downloading it, and it asks you what you want to name it, you name it whatever you want, but you have to put .flv at the end, so it will save it as an .flv file.

Then, when you put it in Pazera, you can save it as an .avi or an .mpeg

Did you re-add it to the pazera check list?

If you didn't rename it until after you downloaded it, you'll have to download it again. If you downloaded it and it's a correct .flv, then you should be able to just hit "Add" in Pazera, browse to wherever the file is, add it to the last, and convert.

Hmm. You'll need to download a codec. I've gotten so many, in the past, I don't even know which ones I have/don't have.

Try downloading divx player, which comes with codecs that probably work, or vlc. I'm actually not exactly sure what you'll need, to get virtualdub to work. I just know you need a codec.
