Thread: SKA's Musical Endeavours

Hi people. I record some music sometimes with Audacity and just found a good MP3 hosting site so I'm going to share some stuff I made here.
I use Synthesizer, Guitar, Vocals and Percussion when I record. Sometimes I only use synth or guitar or only percussion like in this Instrumental percussion song I recorded today using a Djembé and a Darbuka:

I liked it. Seems like tribal/shamanic music to me which I never hear...the change was nice

I really like this one! But I think the ending is too sudden. To me it sounds like somebody cut it too soon.

Yeah but that's because it's not a completed song(yet). These are loose Ideas I came up with and wanted to store. Which is why they aren't great sound quality either. The thing is the idea is captured and can be taken to a studio with the new, great musicians I found recently.

Some of the EQ levels need some work, and there's a few timing issues with some of the parts, in general. Other than that, I think you're on to something with that dub track. It stopped a little sudden for my tastes, but I guess you aren't finished with it.

What hard/soft synths and DAW software do you use? I'd like to know before I criticize the sounds selected.

No It's far from finished. And I knew the Sound is totally unprofessional crap. It was merely to record the idea and later take it into the studio to make a song out of it.
And I used a simple freeware track recording program called Audacity.

Yeah well it has a Dub-piece in it in the sense it goes drum and base solo for a little while, but the Beat + Ubeat is more RockSteady really. I like Dub, RockSteady, Ska AND Reggae so I tend to put more then just 1 style in songs I write.
Alot of people confuse Reggae, RockSteady and Ska with eachother.

Yeah Jamaican music is quite my Scene. I'll start seriously jamming and rehearsing in a Dub/Reggae-band somewhere at the end of January.

SKA once loved a lady, but she was as cold as ice. It hurt beyond the meaning of pain. Otherwise I would have defenitely, eventually married her. Too bad Life is all about making plans while everything turns out to go completely different. Now SKA is rather carefull and aprehensive when it comes to relationships. Temporary unavailable

PS: Isn't it rather strange to praise someone for their talent? Can't you only praise or blaim someone for doings of their own free will? Well sure I enjoy appreciation of my musical efforts, but I didn't choose to be musically talented, I just was born musically/creatively gifted. It doesn't nececairily make me a better, or even a good, person does it?
