try adding stars, and making the sky a darker blue, it might look better, kind of like in momemto's

these are really nice, they look like candy badges lol jk, these rock, i like the pointed badges deano made as well, maybe the pointed badges could be for the professor and the round ones for the alumni?...

and i noticed you have different badge types there, i like the row of blue 1's... very nice

Also, momento, your one wasn't quite right. It looked kick ass, but firstly, the font was right, but it was supposed to be all caps (Like in the DV banner at the top).

And Jake, I can't wait to see what you pull out.

Yeah i actually couldn't find that font, i looked hard as hell, i was very disappointed... what was the name of the font?

Also, Shift this was the storyboard layout i had in my head for my idea for the class banners


The name of the class on one side and a pic on the other, with pretty's running behind it, or just a gradient behind it, mind this is a "storyboard" pic...

No, you had the right font, I think. Times new roman.

But the way it is, is the text should have a bigger font for the D, V and A, and smaller font for the others. (All caps)

ClouD, I started this thread with you in mind and hoping I could somehow coerce you into creating more DV amazingness You can cut them off if you want

DT = Dream Theory.

I like the idea that professors have mrdeano style sharp edged icons, alumni rounded ones. (at least the idea that they have different icons.) / Professor's badge is written in gold / alumni's in silver.

From the Shift template I like the first line the most. Although it would be much more comprehensive when each course has different colors. (But these corored samples didn't look too nice)

I also like the idea of a sleeping student.

Just throwing around some ideas.

I think the first one is more suited for WILD class because with wild you leave your body with full control in a way. DILD is more like noticing something in a dream (maybe DILD icon could be like - body in bed, and a dream body in a sitting posture pointing at something like just after noticing his dream sign).

I like this kind of a sky the most. But the house is too clearly-blurry. It could be done more blueish-blurry to cover it's natural blurryness (if you understand what I mean).

Momento, I like that DILD banner except that would be more for a WILD course with the twin body. Things like that though are definitely cool!

i don't think you scared him away, i think he's on artitst reserve, trying to work out a few concepts or whatnot. Yeah, i just typed out some words and threw in a pic really quick, it was basically to show the idea of words on one side and a picture on the other lol.

A piece that I've modified by Brent Pauba (the artist who did the initial artwork for our main DV forum header). He has allowed me to use his work for DV. ~

What do you think? I think the open space suits rather nicely.

Hehe, I did make one of those. Was waiting to see what Shift thought about that as like a main entry/welcome image. I also had a [crappy] variant of the woman wearing one of those graduation hats with tassles, but overwrote it.

Could it be that the main banner already consists of links to different courses. If there are mountains, then some mountains link to Recall & other one to WILD course. It might be a forest or a town or maybe a made-up picture of all the things that represent courses. If a town, then a click to one of it's houses' doors (with a sign on it) would lead to a course main page.

And I like what you are doing guys.

ClouD, those all look fantastic! I love that it goes along with the DV banner, and that it is so serene and blue The buttons are also lovely, good match with the coloring

To be honest I don't really like the inclusion of the girl, but only because I personally don't really like the whole 'dreams are mystical' 'you are alone on the brink of a huge expanse' sort of presentation/message that images like that give. This is just me, though, because my dreams are never like that so every time I see such an image I get a sense of false advertising lol. I think most people like that, though!

insight that is an interesting idea. I've never done it myself, linking various parts of an image, but if it's not difficult it's certainly a good idea. I imagine something like a bookshelf with each binding having a course name and linking to a post in a stickied thread about the offered classes would work well!

This is just a really rough example


Thought of something like half of an iron bed frame serving as each bookend but couldn't find a good image. Anyway, each book could serve as a link to each specific course's description/announcement of availability.

[edit] maybe at least the theory-based courses could be as books. Others be more like going to the gym (as in more active idea/image/icon)

That is a bloody good idea. And yea, all you would have to do is chop the image up into different images and then put them next to each other as image links, and it would look like it's the one image, but with different links of course.
