Language Learning with Livemocha | Learn a Language Online - Free! takes the Rosetta Stone approach (kind of), and gets you into the language with applicable words such as "Herr," "Geld," etc. While this is a great way to immerse yourself and learn the language, I think practical studying would do you the most benefit. Learning articles, the basics, conjugation, etc. at first will help much more tremendously than "cat," "dog," and other sporadic words; of course, that's my learning style and opinion. You might think differently. Try it out though! |

Maybe you could learn it by just watching German TV. Worked for me when I was 4-5 years old, I liked the language and so I always watched German TV instead of Belgian. And with doing so I slowly learned German, till someday I met this German boy that was visiting us with his mother and could converse without any problems with him in German. Though I lost intrest in the German cartoon TV and so stopped watching it and thus losing my ability of German |

Whatever happens~
I'm in my third year of taking German at school, but i started off learning on the internet. I learned a lot of nouns and basic stuff from it, but it is impossible to be awesome at German from just the internet. Speaking it with other people that know the language really helps with pronunciation. I used livemocha.com and that was helpful. Checking out your local library's selection of language CDs is also a good idea. Once you know the basics, watching German SesamStrasse on youtube is fun and helpful. Good luck. |
