On a completely unrelated note, only because I just actually really noticed it, and yes, I realize this is the wrong thread, but what the hell. Lucky Dog's nose wiggles. I had been wondering what was catching my eye then not being there when I looked at your avatar, pj. I just didn't expect the animation...

      Carry on, now.

God, I thought it was just me and that I was losing it.

Thanx MoS. Confidence in my sanity restored.

      For now.

Its because of their position, they are quite upstanding people in their community and have a lot of money - so this is why the fuss is being made.

Amen to that. The same goes for here in America. The government is not our Mothers or nannies. I'm tired of having to earn my living while the lazy moochers get it all handed to them. I don't want hand-outs; I want others to earn their keep.

-Women, on average, seem less intelligent, and more emotionally unstable, than men, in general.

      -99% of people are stupid.

-Human existence has no value what so ever, except it intrinsic value.

-People need to stop whining about small time problems, like immigrants, are worse than way worse shit that's going on in the world.

I'm sick of hearing about Princess Diana on the news, yeah it not nice that she died but there just over doing it and its starting to annoy me, they have like these montages with cheesy music in the background. She's dead, why dwell on something that happened 10 years ago, i bet i won't get a tenth anniversary day 10 years after my death. Its ridiculous.

I could have seen SEVEN programs on Diana on TV today. In one day. Seven! BBC and ITV were showing the same program at the same time.

So very correct. Yes, she's gone. Yes, it was a tragic event. Yes, she will be missed. Now let her rest in peace. And while you're at it, let the rest of the world take a break from it as well.

And I saw three magazines in the supermarket checkout line today featuring her on the cover. One was a whole "collectors edition" magazine about her life in her last two decades. (All while standing in back of a lady who was bleed from her arm all over the place. What a mess, that off-topic scenario was. It's a good thing there was a roll of paper towels nearby and the manager was kind enough to serve up the first aid kit.)

My most controversial view would probably be that a human being who molested and killed a child (or did something similar) keeps his intrinsic human value and has not only a right to live but also a right to psychiatric help. I also believe that this person should be forgiven if he changes, and in that case, should be given the right to live happily and peacefully after reintegration into society, with no time spent behind bars *just so that he would be behind bars*. His psychological constitution when he committed the crime aren't relevant for whether he deserves treatment or not.

It is kind of idealistic, but there are enough people out there who would lock up a child-molester lifelong even if there was a 100% foolproof way to change him to the better. And to me that would be inhuman. So this is only my theoretical opinion... I don't actually have the practical side covered.

PS I also believe that a mass-murderer and a terrorist do not deserve death or pointless imprisonment, but treatment, independent of whether they can be deemed psychologically sane or not.

Wow, Korittke. I'm not going to argue you here but, let's just say that you've peaked my controversy meter way about the red. In fact, that's so crazy and backwards that you may have just earned a gold medal for being on the wrong side of a controversial topic. Congratulations

I agree with this. Some governments can work out for a while, but it will come crashing down eventually. But, without government, it could be even worse. So, what's a better way?

I have a pretty good argument against the death penalty, actually. If I make a seperate topic on it, will you join the discussion? I don't want to write everything out if no one is going to care.

      Interesting...

This thread started out a little bit tame but it's got quite controversial now.

The title matches the content. Good

Ahh, more controversy. If you feel the urge go right ahead. I'm sure I'll find my way there. Wait, I'm trying to avoid too much arguing and controversy around here. Then again, you and I have been known to "discuss" things before so, what the heck.

neither. Its just the truth. What government have ever brought about lasting peace or satisfying conditions? No such thing...

I didn't say that, the other guy did and I was just quoting.

It has to be one of those... and obviously the above quote shows it's an anarchist view. What I said was mostly a joke (as in, no man-made government ever works, thus, animal power. or man as in literally, a man. so therefore, feminist). However, you have to consider here, what DOES work. Anarchy is the only alternative to having a man-made government (btw, why say man-made government? who else makes a government? what I said was making fun of you... do you mean woman made or animal made, instead?), and personally I believe anarchy would create much worse circumstances than we are in now.

      Basically...

Government isn't about making a great system for the people but rather it is the "best of all the evils" in which humanity can live.
