I have this receading hairline or whatever...and my hair naturally combs over...so I think it makes me look kind of geeky...

So I spike my hair because I think it makes my look cool

I try to keep in mind that colors are just colors and they really aren't suppose to be gender oriented. Actually, a guy can look really sexy in pink...Damn, people's opinions are probably scaring all the sexy, pink wearing guys away. >.<
Yeah, I'm hoping you get outta that rut eventually, G.- I think you will though, humans don't really have the mentality to avoid who they are. It comes up one way or another.

You need to move here lol - Nothing wrong with a guy wearing pink IMO!

I also have grown my hair out, and at the moment is quite long compared to what I normally have it like, my fringe is just past my eyebrows and the rest of my hair is quite long now - I have my next appointment on the 21st August! Just get yourself a good stylist, tell them what you want and they will do the rest, book the appointments for you and tell you what you need to do, although quite expensive that's what I did!

heh maybe I should move there, It seems America is behind on everything compared to the rest of the world.

I see no men here in phoenix wearing pink, or makeup...maybe I'm not looking in the right places..

In order to successfully grow out your hair, avoid getting maintenance trims. This sounds like common sense, but you'd be surprised.

By the way, regarding the myth which states that your hair grows faster if you trim it regularly - almost everyone's hair grows at a fixed rate of about half an inch per month, regardless of anything. There is nothing that you can do to either speed this up or slow this down. So, depending on how long your hair is and how long you want it to get, it will probably take you between 1.5 and 2.5 years to grow it out. It took me about 20-22 months for the hair above my forehead to reach my collar. (I have cut it short again since, in case you were wondering.)

Be advised - while growing your hair out, you will go through an "awkward phase," where you hair just looks sorta goofy. The awkward phase is when most would-be longhairs either decide to give up and cut their hair short, or give in to "maintenance trims." These trims may make your hair look neater in the short term, but ultimately they just prolong the time spent in the awkward phase. It's best to just suck it up and let it grow.

Regarding your curly hair... I would embrace it rather than straighten it, but that's just my opinion.

I don't think anyone really said anything about my pink hair...unless they said it behind my back. But of course I just can't think of anyone talking behind my back...I'm not a very popular person IRL...or atleast I don't think I am.

I guess it would depend on who has the pink hair really...

I could photoshop a picture of myself sometime with pink hair similar to what I had.

Haha, this whole thread just reminds me how lucky I am to have a mom who's a professional hairdresser/stylist. Additionally, it reminds me how lucky I am to be blessed with naturally straight hair that can grow out long without me ever really having to worry about it looking shitty.

Also, in reference to the pink clothing thing...

Ignore the green shirt, it wasn't mine - but I've been rocking those pink shorts (and others) as much as I can this summer. Does that count?

That's sorta pink, its like a 'guys pink' if there is such a thing, its less bright and magenta looking then girls pink, I personally love girls pink

Also, whats that wet spot on you're shirt?

Lucky man you are to be born with straight hair, heck my hair is so curly I style it with gel and 5 minutes later its like the hair moved on its own back into curly position!

If your aiming for a more feminine style maybe while your growing it out the POB hairstyle would be a good idea ( victoria beckhams hair) its short on the neck and longer at the front, once the fronts grown to the desired length you can simply stop trimming the back seeing as you said it grows faster. let me find a pic hang on...

failing that Elfin style hair is kinda fashionable now, for females and would be quite fast to achieve, just a quick cut would probably get you straight there.

I like victoria's hair, thats sorta what I'd wanna have, so that I can look like a guy at work, and at the club I can look all girly and androgynous

I know what you mean about 'guy' pink. With that particular pair of shorts the colour is kinda obnoxious and masculine, but I still love 'em.

The wet spot is probably from those shorts, which were probably wet, which I don't remember why because I was probably drunk.

lol you pee'd yourself didn't you?

      (j/k)

BTW guys, i don't know if its me but, it feels like my hair has like reached a stalling point, It hasn't significantly grown in the past few weeks, or maybe I just don't notice....but anyways, since i've grown it out, my 'thinning' spots have sorta gotten smaller and smaller...

Maybe I will stop losing hair after all

You aren't going to notice any significant hair growth over just a few weeks. Like I said, basically everyone's hair grows at about 1/2 inch per month, regardless of anything. So with that in mind, you may actually be able to notice the growth over the very first few weeks since 1/3-1/2 inch would be a significant addition if your hair is under 1 inch long. But once you reach a certain point (which it seems that you have), you're only going to be able to tell from looking at photos and from more objective forms of memory (e.g. "Hmm, three months ago my hair was tickling my nose, now it's getting caught in my lips - I guess it's gotten longer"). Don't worry - it's always growing. It's way too early to start getting impatient, since like I said, you're ultimately looking at 2+ years of growing.

Yea you're right but ultimately for the record I must say my hair grows ALOT faster then a 1/2 inch a month.

      heres a quick example:

I had my hair trimmed to nearly zero last summer, and after about 2 weeks I had nearly trippled the length of the hair.

As for now, if I spike my hair up I can guesstimate that my top hair is around 4-6 inches long, about a month ago it was 1-3 inches

I think im growing an inch a month, or more...I take alot of vitamins and there is something called biotin in them which I read stimulates hair and nail growth.

I used to believe the same thing about my hair until I started growing my hair out. Suddenly I was believing that the opposite was true - that it grew unusually slow. In your previous post you mentioned that you were starting to have the same suspicions about your hair. Funny, isn't it, that we believe our hair does exactly what we don't it to do?

It doesn't take much hair at all to triple the length of your hair when it's "nearly zero," now does it?

Gee, that sounds really precise. Try measuring (yes, actually measuring) your hair after a year of growing it out. I'll put good money down that says it will have grown approximately 6 inches in that time. There's absolutely no reason to believe that your hair is any different from the other 99% of the population.

And for the record, I haven't missed a day of taking my multivitamin in over 3 years and yet my hair grew and continues to grow at the normal rate. Unless you are severely malnourished, taking vitamins doesn't have any appreciable effect on hair grown.

Heh, I guess that I would have to. In any case, that would be lucky for you. I remember being in that "awkward phase" of growth for around a year. It sucked D=

Just to answer the thread title; keep your head away from scissors and it'll grow just fine.
(generally, keeping your head away from scissors is healthy.)

I'm probably going to do something weird to my hair sometime aswell. Just, something weird. I've had this urge for quite some time to make something crazy to myself to stand out in a crowd. I'm really an anti-fashion guy, aswell...

Oh, back to hair. I think I'm in the "Awkward phase" ... ... I've always called it Troll Hairstyle, but I think "Awkward" got it better. Har har.

Anyways. Good luck with your hair, guerilla.

Well, the pink color I see people with on the streets...
God. That just looks way too unnatural and, bad.

But the color of pink in your avatar. That would rawk. C:
