Tell me about music composing on the computer

I've been looking for software to write music for games I make, but nothing has been easy enough to use that sound semi-decent. Anvil Studio doesn't work because it's MIDI. FL Studio costs a lot, is hard to use, and doesn't have many instruments other then techno. The others are small-time "free-to-try" deals that are either too weird, hard, or simple to use.

Try Finale Notepad. It's MIDI but I think you can convert with some program.

Hey guys, I'm back. Feels good man

You can save it as a different type of file and it's really easy to use (kinda)
but the new file sounds really bad, so unless you can find a way to record the sound, it'll sound weird

I'm affraid anything else than MIDI is gonna cost you a bit (I'm a Soundtrack Composer myself started the same you're doing right now ;D). Why isn't MIDI an option? You haven't got a MIDI Device? Sound card?

What is it exactly you're looking for?

If you can torrent Guitar Pro 5 with the realistic sound engine that one is great, easy to write in and it sounds good afterwards
When I was in high school I was very ambitious, I wanted to be the Class President but I missed out by only about 3 votes.

So they made me the Class Secretary of Defence.

I composed (and still do) with Guitar Pro. You can also record (either the Real Sound Engine, or just the MIDI output), and export your piece to a .wav file. Maybe that's an option?

It's quite easy to convert a MIDI to an mp3 you don't need to download anything, I use this http://www.hamienet.com/midi2mp3 I download music from vgmusic.com and it works with those MIDI's.

Says the site is based on credits but everytime I get the link I just go back and it never subtracts any credits, at least the last time I used it.

Also I know FL Studio can be gotten free on the internet, although it's illegal, I know because a friend of mine got it that way, and I've seen it around.
