lol, whats wrong with liking long bows?

I am thinking I will like to try hunting after I get better, so maybe I should get the 50lb and build my strength up to it...

A warrior does not give up what he loves, he finds the love in what he does

Only those who attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible.

I dunno! Everyone one I know (except one) uses compound bows...

Alright! Might want to wear long sleeves while practicing. Some say this constricts arm movement, but I don't think so, and it will protect your left forearm from getting snapped with the bowstring. Which hurts...

If 50 is too much, or too little, look into other ones, I don't know about around you, but most hunting stores around here (only place I could find a bow) will let you try the bow out a little. Not with arrows, of course, but just to see how it feels.
      Bollocks.

Heh, I'm looking into this as well. I plan to make my own longbow, though. Be sure to get a good forearm guard for your off hand. Shirtsleeves just don't quite cut it, especially with heavier draw weights.

I've always wanted to make my own bow... I know shirt sleeves don't stop all pain, but a little pain makes you learn from your mistakes. If using a good stance, it shouldn't be a problem.
      Bollocks.

Fashion yourself some leather vambraces to protect your forearms.

I've been wanting to get into archery too. I'd rather get a longbow too. I want to be able to use a more powerful bow if it ever comes down to having to hunt for food.

Yea... Compounds are more powerful than long bows... And easier to pull back...

Really? As you can see, I currently know nothing about archery...
