      SP without WBTB?

So i tried some to attain SP without completely falling asleep last night. I kept getting right to the edge then i would imagine myself falling or slipping down a stair or whatever and my body would jerk a couple times pretty violently to my amusement.
I use to enter dreams directly from waking state when i went to bed. the SP was almost natural and i was able to enter dreams even without wbtb.
Im wondering, does anyone do this, entering dream state when they first go to bed? also, how can i stop jerking myself awake and ruining the SP?

that happens to me, but only very rarely. what does it for me is imagining walking along a curb when you are really relaxed. If you worry about falling off the curb or lose focus on the curb then it is likely that your foot will miss and you will get a hypnic jerk. Also, if I play a sport one day that I haven't played in a long time, I might go to bed thinking about it and get quite involved in the imagery. I don't remember ever entering a full dream at the beginning of the night though because the jerks always wake me up.
